The National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) LTD this Saturday, February 28, 2026, appeared before the Parliamentary Committee of Natural Resources and Climate Change at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach Hotel in Salima to provide an update on the current fuel supply situation in Malawi.

The engagement was aimed at appraising the Committee on the status of fuel stocks, supply logistics, and ongoing interventions to ensure stability in the sector. NOCMA also used the platform to solicit continued support from Members of Parliament in strengthening the fuel supply chain and safeguarding national energy security.

Leading NOCMA delegation on behalf of its Board Chairperson, Mr. Frank Kunje, who is Chairperson of Finance, Audit and Risk Committee of the NOCMA Board of Directors expressed appreciation to Members of Parliament for their proactive role in ensuring that NOCMA effectively delivers on its mandate. He emphasized that the fuel sector remains a critical driver of the economy, powering key sectors such as transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, health, and mining.

“We are grateful for the unwavering support from Parliament. The fuel sector underpins virtually every productive sector of our economy. Continued collaboration will ensure that we maintain stability and efficiency in supply,” said Kunje.

Chairperson of the Committee, Tiaone Hendry, assured NOCMA of the Committee’s commitment to providing necessary oversight and intervention where needed. She encouraged the Company to maintain open lines of communication with the Committee and to seek engagement before challenges escalate.

The meeting reflects NOCMA’s continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and stakeholder engagement as it works to fulfill its mandate of ensuring reliable and sustainable fuel supply for national development.

Working in the Oil & Gas industry is no small task. From high-risk environments and strict safety standards to long hours, remote locations, tight deadlines, market volatility, and the constant pressure to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply — the demands can take a toll on mental health.

Recognizing this reality, the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) recently organized a Mental Health Awareness Talk for its members of staff across all company depots nationwide.

Led by renowned mental health expert Professor Chiwoza Bandawe, the sessions created a safe and supportive space for employees to openly share their experiences, challenges and personal journeys. Staff members gained critical insights into mental wellbeing, stress management, and the importance of seeking support when needed.

At NOCMA, people matter. Prioritizing mental health is not just an initiative — it’s a commitment to building a healthier, stronger, and more resilient workforce.
