Over the past two years since the inception of our biogas system, we are proud to have served over 400 farmers with organic bio-fertiliser produced from our waste-to-energy process.

This initiative is not only supporting sustainable agriculture but also improving crop yields for farmers who use it. By replacing chemical fertilisers with organic alternatives, we are also contributing to healthier soils and a cleaner environment.

On the other end, we are also proving clean cooking solutions to people around Mzuzu through our biogas systems, helping households move away from firewood and adopt safer, cleaner energy.

At KCHKNA, we remain committed to building solutions that connect clean energy, waste management, and agriculture to create lasting impact in our communities.

It was a beautiful day today as we hosted guests from Tradeline Consultancy in collaboration with USAID 🇺🇸 at our office in Mzuzu. They came to appreciate the work we are doing in the renewable energy space and the positive impact we're bringing to the community. It was a great opportunity to showcase how our efforts are driving change, and we also explored the potential for future collaboration on some exciting projects we’re looking forward to undertaking together.

Partnerships like these are key to making a lasting difference in the communities we serve.

Exciting Visit from USAID🇺🇸 to KCHKNA's Offices.

Today, we had the honor of hosting a delegation from USAID at our KCHKNA offices. Their visit was an incredible opportunity to showcase the impactful work we're doing to drive sustainability and innovation in Malawi.
One of the highlights of the visit was our Waste-to-Energy project, where the team had the chance to inspect our biogas system. This system is a cornerstone of our mission to create a cleaner environment while providing clean cooking solutions to communities.
The USAID team was keenly interested in how our biogas initiative not only helps in reducing waste but also addresses critical issues like deforestation and air pollution caused by traditional biomass cooking methods. They recognized the potential of our project to improve the quality of life, especially for women who often bear the burden of collecting firewood over long distances.
At KCHKNA, we're proud to be at the forefront of sustainable energy solutions, turning waste into valuable resources that empower our communities. This visit reinforces our commitment to scaling up our efforts and making a lasting impact.

We're thrilled to announce that our technology and renewable energy company has successfully installed biogas systems at the Msilo dumpsite in Mzuzu in collaboration with Ecogen. This project is a significant step forward in our mission to promote sustainable and eco-friendly solutions.

With these new biogas systems, the people who look after the dumpsite will now have access to clean cooking solutions. Previously reliant on firewood, they faced health risks and contributed to environmental degradation. Our initiative not only provides a healthier alternative but also helps protect our environment by reducing deforestation and carbon emissions.

A huge thank you to Ecogen for their partnership and to our dedicated team for their hard work in making this project a reality.

Job Description:
As a Software Developer at KCHKNA Limited, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and implementation of high-quality and secure software applications. The applications you develop will include use of NFC (near field communication), QR code scanning, text recognition and database design. You’ll go from conceptual design with the team all the way to deployment on the web or the applications stores.

General Responsibilities:

• Write clean, scalable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate into software development processes.
• Ensure software security, performance, and reliability.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes and contribute to sprint planning and reviews.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Use NFC, QR code, and text recognition SDKs
• Interface with API’s to leverage functionality provided by other tools e.g. machine learning API’s, bank API’s etc

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in software development, with at least two completed projects in your portfolio.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C #, or JavaScript.
• Experience with front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and frameworks such as React, Django, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Strong knowledge of back-end development, including database management (SQL, NoSQL, vector databases), server-side scripting, and API integration (e.g. some work with WhatsApp API, Telegram API, OpenAI API, Maps API, etc).
• Familiarity with Git.
• Super-fast in getting work done

Preferred Skills

• Experience with mobile app development (iOS/Android).
