Recent research confirms that data traffic in modern high-speed networks demonstrates fractal behavior and long-range dependency. By applying fractal analysis techniques to time series traffic captured from an application server, researchers identified key indicators—such as a Hurst exponent between 0.5–1 and a fractal dimension from 1–1.5—validating the presence of self-similar, impulsive behavior. These insights highlight the importance of integrating fractal models in analyzing and optimizing network performance across high-bandwidth infrastructure. Understanding this behavior helps IT professionals and network engineers improve stability and efficiency in large-scale network environments.
