Milis Bio is hiring!

Interested pursuing a PhD with a rapidly expanding Irish Biotech Start-Up?

MilisBio Ltd are currently seeking a candidate to apply to the Irish Research Council (IRC) Enterprise Partnership Scheme for a Postgraduate PhD Scholarship.

If successful, this position would be co-funded by the IRC and MilisBio Ltd, with the PhD work being completed in University College Cork. MilisBio is a start-up company that is developing protein-based sweeteners and flavourings using directed-evolution and protein engineering. Techniques employed will include cell culture, protein expression and purification, library screening, ELISA or similar assays and fluorescence microscopy. Experience in some of these area would be advantageous but not essential.

Suitable candidates must already have obtained a 1st class or upper 2nd class honours degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Neuroscience, Physiology or a related discipline.

Interested individuals should reply immediately, enclosing an up to date CV, with a view to submitting a fellowship application by the 17th of September. The outcome of the application will be known in December with the position due to start on April 1st.

The new position is one of 2 which are the result of an exciting partnership with Bimbo Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Grupo Bimbo S.A.B. de CV.

Milis Bio brings home the KPMG Best Business Plan and Bank of Ireland Best Company awards at the IGNITE UCC awards night.

If you want to take a snapshot of hustle and innovation in Cork then any Ignite cohort is a great place to look, and ours was no different. I was ecstatic with how much we had achieved this year but could never have expected these prizes given how strong our cohort was. Massive congratulations are due to all the companies involved and a huge thank you is due to the program director, Eamon Curtin, and to the host of world class mentors and coaches that support the Ignite program.
