A research group led by Switzerland's University of Applied Sciences (SUPSI) has carried out a long-term analysis of six south-facing, grid-connected PV systems installed in Switzerland in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The researchers found that the systems’ annual power loss rates averaged 0.16% to 0.24%, significantly lower than the 0.75% to 1% per year commonly reported in the literature.

The high-end material polyolefin elastomer (POE), known as “industrial gold,” has achieved large-scale production using the gas-phase method at Dushanzi Petrochemical in Xinjiang, a breakthrough that effectively alleviates China’s reliance on imports for the material needed in emerging industries such as photovoltaics.

The POE produced achieves a light transmittance of over 90%. When made into photovoltaic encapsulant films, the material can maximize the power generation efficiency of solar modules. In addition, its weather resistance and water v***r barrier properties effectively protect the internal circuits of the modules, extending the service life of photovoltaic panels from 25 years to more than 30 years.

Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA) is Malaysian government tax incentive designed to encourage corporate investment in green technology assets such as solar power, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and energy efficiency equipment.

GITA functions as a tax allowance—not a cash handout—that allows eligible companies to reduce their taxable statutory income by up to 70% per year based on 100% of their qualifying capital expenditure. The process involves applications and approvals from MGTC (technical assessment) and MIDA (incentive approval), followed by claiming the allowance during tax filing with LHDN.

Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) sedang memuktamadkan garis panduan Program Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme (Solar ATAP), seperti diumumkan oleh Kementerian Peralihan Tenaga dan Transformasi Air (PETRA). Program ini merupakan kesinambungan kepada Net Energy Metering (NEM) yang telah tamat pada Jun 2025.

Garis panduan penuh program ini akan diterbitkan pada 31 Disember 2025 di laman sesawang ST, dan permohonan akan dibuka melalui SEDA Malaysia bermula 1 Januari 2026. ST menghargai kesemua maklum balas dan cadangan konstruktif yang diterima sepanjang proses konsultasi.

“A key advantage of these flexible films is that the panel can be stuck onto any surface. In the UK, you currently have to think twice about adding thick solar panels onto relatively fragile roofs of warehouses that are not really designed to be load-bearing,” said Professor David Lidzey, from the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the University of Sheffield and co-author of the study.
