🌐✨ MGVI-NIBM at the Networking Event 2026 on Bio-Sensing Technology ✨🌐

On 10th May 2026 (Sunday), three representatives from the Malaysia Genome and Vaccine Institute, National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia (MGVI-NIBM) participated in the Networking Event 2026 held in conjunction with the 9th International Conference on Bio-Sensing Technology. The Networking Event 2026 was co-organized by the Institute of Bio-Sensing Technology (University of the West of England, Bristol, UK) and Universiti Malaya Affordable Diagnostics and Therapeutics (UMADT). The event took place from 2.30 pm to 6.00 pm at DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton, Kuala Lumpur.

The event gathered over 100 international and national industrial players, policymakers, innovators, researchers, and academicians in the field of biosensing technologies, providing an impactful platform for strategic networking, knowledge exchange, and future collaboration opportunities in biosensor innovation.

MGVI-NIBM was represented by:
🔬 Ts. Dr. Iffah Izzati Zakaria
🔬 Ts. Dr. Ummirul Mukminin Kahar
🔬 Dr. Mohamad Shukri Sirat

A key highlight of the event was the Innovation Pitching Session, where Ts. Dr. Iffah Izzati Zakaria presented the “Periodontal Disease Rapid Test Kit," showcasing MGVI-NIBM’s innovation towards rapid and accessible diagnostic solutions for periodontal disease.

Meanwhile, Ts. Dr. Ummirul Mukminin Kahar and Dr. Mohamad Shukri Sirat actively engaged in the Networking Session, connecting with experts and organizations from leading institutions and industries worldwide in advancing biosensing technologies, medical devices, and diagnostics research.

The event featured insightful sessions by three distinguished speakers, including:

🎤 Dr. Henry Staines – Senior Lecturer (City St. George’s, University of London, UK)

🎤 Dr. Nurneqman Nashreq Kosni – Assistant Director (Medical Device Authority (MDA) Malaysia)

🎤 Dr. Hyzan Mohd Yusof – Secretary General (Malaysia Medical Device Manufacturers Association, PERANTIM).

Discussions focused on academia-industry collaboration, regulatory pathways for medical devices, and the evolving medical device landscape in Malaysia.

MGVI-NIBM remains committed to strengthening international collaborations and driving innovation in genomics and biosensing technologies towards impactful solutions.

11 May 2026 | MGVI-NIBM Journal Club

We just wrapped up an insightful Journal Club session featuring Mr. Tan Wei Run, who spoke on "Integrating Pharmacopoeial Standards into Early Vaccine Research".

A major highlight from the discussion was the importance of beginning with the finish line in sight. By keeping the final regulatory goals in mind right form the start of a project, researchers can better align early-stage R&D with the standards needed for successful translation.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for this engaging session!

27 April 2026 | MGVI-NIBM Journal Club

We are thrilled to kick off our very first session of the year with an insightful sharing by Dr. Azira Muhamad on “Key Lessons from Managing a Successful Project.”

Drawing from her experience delivering a highly successful RM 2.5 million SRF project, Dr. Azira shared practical takeaways and real-world insights on effective project management.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the library this morning! We had a fantastic turnout to officially reactivate our Journal Club for the year, and it was great to see such an engaged crowd.

Let's keep this momentum going and continue fostering a strong culture of open knowledge sharing within our institute!
