Malaysia’s clean energy transition is progressing at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA2).

Gentari has successfully completed a 3.1MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) system at gateway@klia2, bringing renewable energy into one of Malaysia’s busiest transport hubs.

Comprising approximately 5,212 solar panels installed across rooftop and car park spaces, the system is expected to generate around 4,277MWh of clean energy annually while reducing carbon emissions by approximately 3,310 tCO₂e each year.

The project marks another step towards decarbonising public infrastructure and supporting the ambitions of Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

This World REnew Day, let's take a moment to go back to where some of it began.

We brought members of the media to Gentari's solar power plant in Gebeng, Kuantan, one of our first utility-scale solar projects in Malaysia. Getting there was part of the story, with media charging their way along the KL-Kuantan corridor via Gentari Go app, with thanks to BYD Cars Malaysia for the vehicles that made the journey possible. Since January 2014, the facility has generated more than 125 million kWh of clean electricity for the national grid, powering homes and industries.

At Gentari, we are building the infrastructure and partnerships required for the energy transition, one project at a time. From renewable generation to grid resilience, energy security, and green mobility, this is the work in progress.

On this Global Wind Day, we reflect on the role of wind energy in expanding Asia-Pacific’s clean energy landscape, from the plains of Tamil Nadu to the waters of the Taiwan Strait.

Our first 180 MW wind–solar co-located open access plant in India and our first 1 GW offshore wind project in the Taiwan Strait represent important milestones in building capabilities across both onshore and offshore wind.

As energy systems evolve, Gentari remains focused on developing integrated, scalable renewable energy projects that contribute to a more diversified and reliable energy mix across the region.

"Can Asia strengthen energy security while accelerating its energy transition?

At the Asia Infrastructure Forum (AIF) 2026 in Singapore, Jui Kian Lim, Head of Global Growth, Renewable Energy at Gentari, will join the “Ideation Roundtable Panel 3: Energy Security and Transition - Competing or Complementary? An Ecosystem View” panel session.

Taking place on Day 2 of the forum, the session will explore why a system-wide view is needed across energy infrastructure, grid readiness, storage, financing and policy coordination to support Asia’s long-term growth and resilience.
