Pada 5 Mei 57, empat buah pesawat Chipmunk yang mulai berkhidmat dengan Malayan Auxiliari Air Force (MAAF) di Pulau Pinang. Pesawat-pesawat tersebut dengan nombor daftar 287, 309, 588 dan 866 tamat perkhidmatannya dengan MAAF setelah mencapai sejumlah 199.55 jam penerbangan pada 23 Nov 58. Dengan keputusan untuk menyerapkan MAAF ke dalam Tentera Udara Persekutuan maka kesemua Chipmunk tersebut pun dipindahkan kepada Tentera Udara baru itu dan diberi nombor-nombor FM 1020, FM 1021, FM 1022 dan FM 1023. Dua buah lagi pesawat dari Kelab Penerbangan Kuala Lumpur telah menambahkan jumlah angkatan Chipmunk untuk mencukupi enam buah.

Semasa tertubuhnya Sekolah Latihan Terbang di Kuala Lumpur pada tahun 1960, pengambilan bakal-bakal juruterbang telah menggunakan pesawat tersebut. Tidak lama kemudian pesawat Hunting Percival (Piston) Provost telah menggantikan Chipmunk pada lewat tahun 1961. Pesawat Chipmunk pun kembali untuk berkhidmat semula dengan Kelab Penerbangan.

Pesawat yang dipamerkan ini bukannya pesawat asal TUDM kerana kesemua pesawat tersebut telah dijual oleh Kelab-kelab Penerbangan berkenaan dan tidak dapat dikesan lagi. Pesawat ini adalah hadiah dari Tentera Udara Diraja Thailand (RTAF) yang secara kebetulannya juga menggunakan Chipmunk. Pesawat ini telah digunakan oleh RTAF mulai tahun 1954 hingga tahun 1982. Ia telah mencapai 1,792.02 jam penerbangan sementara injin yang dipasang telah terbang selama 80 jam sahaja. Nombor pendaftaran RTAF baginya ialah 62-97. Pesawat ini sampai di Kuala Lumpur pada 1 Apr 1988.

On the 5th May 57, four chipmunk commenced service with the Malayan Auxiliary Air Force (MAAF) at Penang. These four aircraft bearing registration numbers 287, 309,588 and 866 terminated their service in the MAAF on completing a total of 199.55 flying hours. This was achieved on the 23rd Nov 1958. Since it was decided that the MAAF were to be absorbed into the newly formed RMAF, these aircraft were subsequently transfered to the Air Force and were given with airframe numbers FM 1020, FM 1021, FM 1022 and FM 1023. A further two aircraft from Kuala Lumpur Flying Club were added to the Chipmunk fleet, this bringing the inventory to six.

When the RMAF Flying Training School was established at the RAF Station Kuala Lumpur in 1960, the first intake of students did their initial flying on these aircraft. With the introduction of the Hunting Percival (Piston) Provosts in 1961, the Chipmunk were decommissioned and returned to the flying clubs.

The aircraft on display is not an original RMAF Chipmunk, since the flying clubs have sold off the Chipmunk and none is traceable. This one in fact was with the Royal Thai Airforce (Flown a total of 1,792.02 airframe hours but the engine has done only 80 hours. It RTAF airframe numbers was 62-97. this aircraft arrived in Kuala Lumpur on 1st April 1988.

Pesawat SME Aero Tiga berasal dari pesawat latihan Dätwyler MD-3 Swiss yang dibangunkan di Switzerland sekitar tahun 1960 dan 1970, dimana penerbangan pertamanya pada tahun 1983. Pesawat latihan Swiss ini mempunyai konfigurasi sayap rendah konvensional, cantilever monoplane dengan fixed spatted triangle undercarriage. Kemudahan kepada juruterbang dan jurulatih penerbangan ialah 2 tempat duduk yang bersebelahan di bawah satu kanopi. Enjin 4 silinder yang mendatar memacu 2 bilah kipas.

Pada tahun 1993, kelulusan rekabentuk telah di perolehi oleh SME Aviation Malaysia, di mana Syarikat ini mula mengeluarkan pesawat Aero Tiga selepas itu setelah menerima tempahan sebanyak 20 buah pesawat dari Tentera Udara DiRaja Malaysia. 2 buah pesawat telah dihantar kepada TUDM pada tahun 1995. Tempahan pesawat ini telah bertambah kepada 60 buah pesawat pada tahun berikutnya. SME juga telah memerima tempahan 20 buah pesawat dari kerajaan Indonesia bagi Pusat Latihan Penerbangan di Curug, sebagai salah satu tawaran oleh Kerajaan Malaysia bagi memperolehi pesawat pengangkut IPTN CN 235.

The SME Aero Tiga, originally the Dätwyler MD-3 Swiss Trainer is a trainer aircraft developed in Switzerland through the 1960s and 70s, and which first flew in 1983. In configuration, the Swiss Trainer is a conventional low-wing, cantilever monoplane with fixed spatted tricycle undercarriage. Accomodation for the pilot and instructor was provided as side-by-side seats under an expansive bubble canopy. Th e four-cyclinder horizontally-opposed piston engine drove a fixed two-blade propeller.

In 1993, all rights to the design were acquired by SME Aviation of Malaysia, who began to produce it as the Aero Tiga shortly thereafter, having received orders fo 20 by the Royal Malaysian Air Force. The first two of these were delivered in 1995, and the order was increased to 60 aircraft the following year. SME also received orders for 20 aircraft for the Indonesian government’s flight training center at Curug, as part if a deal by the Malaysian government to acquire IPTN CN-235 transports.

Pesawat Eagle 150B merupakan buatan Australia dengan dua tempat duduk dan satu enjin yang menggunakan bahan komposit bagi tujuan latihan penerbangan dan pelancongan. Pada tahun 1936 terdapat sebuah unit Tentera Udara British yang dikenali sebagai Tentera Udara Sukarela Negeri-Negeri Selat (SSVAF). Ia dikendali bersama oleh anggota-anggota British dan Malaya. Pada bulan September 1940, nama ditukar kepada Tentera Udara Sukarela Malaya (MAFVR) dan pada bulan Oktober 1950 p**a ia mula dikenali sebagai Tentera Udara Bantuan Malaya. Unit ini menggunakan pesawat Tiger Moth selain dari pesawat yang sezaman dengannya seperti Hawker Audex, The Avro Cadets, Loepard Moth dan Rapides. Tiger Moth merupakan pesawat peninjau, komunikasi dan pesawat penyelamat semasa ia mula beroperasi di Malaya. Pada tahun 1950 semasa di bawah Tentera Udara Bantuan Malaya (MAAF), pesawat ini digunakan untuk latihan.

Kump**an pertama berkhidmat di dalam TUDM terdiri daripada anggota-anggota MAAF. Mereka mendapat latihan penerbangan asas dengan pesawat Tiger Moth. Keinginan kita untuk mendapatkan sebuah pesawat Tiger Moth tercapai apabila British Aerospace melalui jasa baik Collin Dodds. Beliau berjaya mendapatkan sebuah pesawat kepunyaan Encik Medfort dari UK. Pesawat ini di bawa ke Muzium pada bulan Dis 89.

Pesawat ini telah berkhidmat beberapa tahun dengan Tentera Udara Diraja British sebelum ditamatkan perkhidmatannya pada bulan Mac 1953. Kemudian ia telah menggunakan nombor pendaftaran awam G-ANEJ. Pesawat ini mencatat 3,364 jam 55 minit penerbangan dengan Tentera Udara Diraja British. Pesawat ini mengekalkan keadaan boleh guna sehingga 15 Mei 1965 di mana ia mengalami kerosakan teruk semasa mendarat di sebuah padang. Pesawat tersebut dibuka dan disimpan di dalam stor untuk dibaikpulih kemudian hari. Selama 12 tahun berkhidmat sebagai pesawat awam, Tiger Moth telah mencatat 246 jam penerbangan lagi. Ini menjadikan jumlah jam penerbangan meningkat kepada 3880 jam 50 minit.

Way back in1936, there existed a unit in the Royal Air Force known as the Straits Settlement Volunter Air Force. It was manned by both British and Malayan personal. This unit changed names to Malayan Volunteer Air Force in Sept 1940 and the Malayan Auxiliary Air Force (MAAF) in Oct 1950. These Units flew the Tiger Moth amongst other aircraft of the era, like the Hawker Audax, the Avro Cadets, Loepard Moths and Rapides. The Tiger Moths were used for reconnaissance, communication and jungle rescue roles during their early years in Malaya. In 1950 the aircraft under the MAAF were used primarily as a primary trainer. Our pioneer aviators in the RMAF were members of the MAAF and they did the initial flying training in one of these machine. Our desire to acquire a Tiger Moth Materialised when British Aerospace through the good officer of Mr Collin Dodds acquired this aircraft registration number G-ANEJ, formally owned by MrMedforth of UK and bad it shipped out to the Museum in Dec 1989. This aircraft was in service with the Royal Air Force in UK for a number of years until it was decommissioned in March 1953. I t then assumed the civil registration G-ANEJ. The aircraft had by then logged a total of 3,634 hours 55 mins with RAF. It maintained its airworthiness status up to the 15th May 1965 when it was badly damaged during a landing in the field. The aircraft was absequently dismantled and kept in storage for future restoration. During its twelve years of service as a civil registration aircraft this Tiger Moth locked a further 246 hrs. The total hours this aircraft had flown is 3880 hrs 50 mins.

Pesawat jenis Harvard ini telah digunakan oleh Tentera Udara Diraja British (RAF) pada lewat tahun 40an dan awal tahun 50an bagi menentang Pengganas Komunis Malaya. Dalam bulan Julai 1951, Malayan Auxiliary Air Force (MAAF) telah menerima 4 buah pesawat Harvard untuk latihan penerbangan di Pulau Pinang. Juruterbang rakyat Malaya yang pertama meninggal dunia dalam kemalangan pesawat Harvard adalah Leading Aircraftman Alian Leong. Kemalangan berlaku pada Nov 1950 semasa beliau membuat penerbangan solo bersama pesawat di laut berhampiran Batu Feringgi. Sebelum itu beliau telah berjaya membuat 10 jam penerbangan bersama jurulatih penerbangan. Sehingga sekarang bangkai pesawat tersebut masih belum ditemui. Satu upacara pengkebumian telah diadakan dilaut tersebut bagi menghormati kematian beliau oleh MAAF. Juruterbang rakyat Malaya pertama mendapat sayap penerbangan dengan pesawat Harvard ialah Pegawai Kadet Jaswant Singh berumur 31 tahun. Beliau seterusnya telah berjaya membuat lebih 460 jam penerbangan dengan pesawat ini termasuk tugas latihan mengebom dan tembakan, 19 operasi pengguguran risalah dan latihan menangkis serangan musuh.
Mr Fred W Peterson II, seorang juruterbang dari Syarikat World Airway, yang secara sukarela telah berusaha mendapatkan sebuah pesawat Harvard dari USA dengan membuat perjanjian pertukaran pasawat Canadair CL41G (Tebuan) milik TUDM. Pada 10 Nov 93, Muzium TUDM telah bersetuju menyerahkan pesawat Canadair CL41G Tebuan No Daftar M22-10. Pesawat Harvard yang dipamerkan ini diterima oleh Muzium TUDM pada 15 Jul 94.

Late 40’ and early 50’ the role of Harvard aircraft were used by the RAF in the war against the Communist in Malaya. In July 51, Malayan Auxiliary Air Force (MAAF) was assigned with four Harvard and it was base in Penang as a trainer. The first recorded death Malayan Pilot with Harvard was Leading Aircraftman Alian Leong. Accident happen in Nov 1950, whilst he was doing his solo flight, when his aircraft crashed into the sea off Batu Feringgi. Prior to that, he had successfully done 10 hours flying training with an instructor. Till now the wrackage of the aircraft and his remain still missing. His funeral service was held in the sea with the MAAF aircraft dropped a wreath over the sea. However the first Malaya pilot to get his wing after completed his training with Harvard aircraft was 31 years’s old Cadet Officer Jaswant Singh. He had subsequently managed to logged more than 460 flying hours with the Harvard, including bombing and gunnery pratices, and had taken part in 19 leaflet drop operations and interception pratices.
Mr Fred W Petterson II, a pilot with the World Airway has agreed to look one of the Harvard aircraft from USA in exchange for the RMAF Canadair CL41G Tebuan. A deal was agreed and on 10 Nov 93 the RMAF Museum had swapped with RMAF Canadair CL41G Tebuan aircraft serial number M22-10. The exhibit Harvard aircraft has arrived to RMAF Museum 15 July 94.

Pesawat ini telah dibuat di Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation Melbourne, Australia dengan kebenaran rasmi dengan gelaran Sabre F86A. Sebanyak 10 buah pesawat Sabre F86A ini telah dihadiahkan oleh kerajaan Australia kepada kerajaan Malaysia dalam tahun 1969, di Pangkalan TUDM Butterworth, bagi meningkatkan keupayaan pertahanan udara negara. Dengan ketibaan pesawat itu, ia telah memberi kesan kepada kemampuan TUDM terhadap pertahanan udara, terutamanya di dalam operasi serangan udara ke bumi bagi memberi bantuan kepada tentera darat kita melakukan serangan terhadap musuh.
Pesawat Sabre ini telah ditempatkan di Skuadron Ke-11 yang berpangkalan di Butterworth. Pesawat ini telah ditamatkan perkhidmatannya pada tahun 1975.
Penerbangan pertama Sabre (XJF-1) ialah pada 27 Nov 1946. Pesawat ini merupakan pesawat tempur pilihan pada masa itu.

This Sabre Model F86A were built under license at the Commonwealth Aicraft Corporation Melbourne, Australia. 10 of them were presented to Malaysian Government by the Australian Government in 1969, at RAAF Base Butterworth, to enhance the RMAF air defence capabilities. The arrival of these aircraft had provided the RMAF with the ability for more effective air defence, especially in providing air to ground attack operation in support to the Army on land battles with the enemies. The SABRE were stationed with No. 11 Squadron based at Butterworth. These aircraft were phased out in 1975. The first flight of the original SABRE (XJF – 1) was on 27 Nov 1946. It was certainly the most famed combat aircraft of its day, if not of the whole period since world war II.

Aermacchi MB-339 merupakan sebuah pesawat latihan lanjut dan penyerang ringan keluaran itali. Pesawat ini telah direka dan dibangunkan untuk menggantikan pesawat MB-326. Pesawat MB-339 memiliki konfigurasi konvensional dan mempunyai persamaan dengan kerangka MB-326. Pesawat ini memiliki sayap rendah dan lurus dengan tangki-tangki dihujungnya dan saluran masuk udara di pangkal, tiga roda giar pendaratan. Kedudukan pelatih dan pengajar diatur dalam kedudukan selari. Perubahan ketara adalah kedudukan fiuslaj hadapan bagi kerusi pengajar ditinggikan bagi mendapatkan kadar penglihatan yang lebih baik yang mana melepasi kepala pelatih. Penerbangan sulung dilakukan pada 12 Ogos 1976 dan penghantaran kepada Tentera Udara Itali bermula pada tahun 1979. Pesawat ini masih dikeluarkan dengan versi yang dipertingkat upaya dan kokpit yang lebih moden. Lebih 200 buah pesawat MB-339 telah dibina, separuh darinya dibekalkan kepada Tentera udara Itali.

Helikopter Bell 47G ini adalah merupakan pesawat pelatih yang digunakan untuk melatih asas penerbangan bagi juruterbang helikopter TUDM sekitar tahun 70’an sebelum mereka berpindah kepada penerbangan pesawat helikopter Aloutte III dan Sikorsky S61-Nuri. Pesawat ini telah memberikan perkhidmatan yang sangat berharga didalam TUDM sehingga ke tahun 80’an apabila pesawat ini telah diambilalih sepenuhnya oleh pesawat Aloutte III. Penggunaan pesawat ini kemudiannya diteruskan untuk memberi latihan berterusan kepada juruterbang dan pesawat ini telah ditamatkan perkhidmatannya pada pertengahan tahun 90’an. Dua daripada pesawat ini telah diberikan kepada MEAA dalam keadaan baik untuk kegunaan bagi menjayakan program skim Rakan Muda.

The Bell 47G was the RMAF’s basic trainer helicopter in the 70’s before a trainee pilot graduated to the Aloutte III or Sikorsky S61-Nuri helicopter as co-pilot. It has served the RMAF an invalueable service well into the 80’s when the venerable Aloutte III helicopter took over its training duties. It was then relegated to Staff Continuation Training and finally phased out in the mid 90’s.Two of the aircraft have been given to the MEAA to be kept in flying condition to support the Rakan Muda scheme.

The Cessna 401 and 402 are series of 6 to 10 place light twin piston engine aircraft. This line was manufactured by Cessna from 1966 to 1985 under the name Utiliner and Businessliner. All seats are easily removable so that the aircraft can be used in all-cargo configuration.

Neither the Cessna 401 and 402 were pressurized, nor are they particularly fast for the installedhorsepower. Instead Cessna intended them to be inexpensive to purchase and operate.

Kump**an empat pesawat pertama jenis Caribou DHC-4A milik No 8 Skuadron TUDM telah berlepas dari Preston, Kanada pada 26 April 1966, melakukan penerbangan ke Kuala Lumpur melalui Goose Bay-Keflasik-London-Pisa-Athens-Beirut-Bahrain-Bombay-Calcutta dan Butterworth. Pesawat tersebut tiba di Kuala Lumpur pada 15 Mei 1966. Penerbangan pesawat tersebut adalah di kendalikan oleh juruterbang-juruterbang dari Royal Canadian Air Force dan empat juruterbang Malaysia. Ini adalah detik-detik yang membanggakan bagi Squadron Leader Omar Saman, Flight Lieutenant Mohd Yunus Tasi, Flying Officer Arthur Cheah Nee Wah dan Flying Officer Gopal Ramdas.
Setelah mendarat di Kuala Lumpur, pesawat-pesawat tersebut telah di hantar ke Labuan untuk di tugaskan di No 8 Skuadron TUDM. Pada ketika itu ’Konfrontasi’ masih berlaku dan kesemua pesawat tersebut telah terlibat didalam operasi untuk menjaga kedaulatan Negara.

The first four aircraft of No.8 Squadron left Prenton, Canada on 26th April 1966 and flew to Kuala Lumpur via Goose Bay-Keflasik-London-Pisa-Athens-Beirut-Bahrain-Bombay-Calcutta and Butterworth. Pesawat A-4 Skyhawk buatan McDonell Douglas ini adalah dipasang dengan enjin turbojet Pratt & Whittney J52-P8A. Pada asalnya direka bentuk khusus untuk kegunaan Pasukan Tentera Laut dan Merin Amerika Syarikat. Kump**an pertama pesawat milik TUDM telah tiba di Pangkalan TUDM Kuantan pada 28 Disember 1984. Pesawat tersebut telah di buat pembaharuan dan diubahsuai oleh Syarikat Grummans Corporation, Amerika Syarikat, mengikut spesifikasi keperluan Kerajaan Malaysia. Dengan itu gelarannya juga ditukar kepada A-4PTM Skyhawk. Pmbelian pesawat ini adalah dibuat dibawah program peningkatanTUDM untuk menggantikan pesawat Canadair CL-41G Tebuan.

The A-4 Skyhawk aircraftwere built by McDonell Douglas, USA and fitted with the Pratt & Whitney J52-P8A Turbojet Engine. It was originally designed foruse by the US Navy and Marine Corps. The fleet for the RMAF arrived in Kuantan Air Base on December 28, 1984. They were refurbished by Grummans Corporation, USA to Malaysian specification, hence the “PTM” designation was given. The A-4 PTM Skyhawk were purchased by Malaysian Government as part of the RMAF development programmes, replacing the Canadair CL-41G Tebuan.
