Bridging Artificial Intelligence with Infrastructure: IIUM & MRCB Explore Strategic Research Collaboration 🏗️🤖🏢

Alhamdulillah, a productive industry engagement session took place on 19 October 2026 between the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) at Menara Allianz Sentral, Kuala Lumpur.

The strategic discussion explored transformative intersections between academic research and commercial property development, focusing on:

🔹 Proposed Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions for urban infrastructure and construction management
🔹 Collaborative research frameworks addressing modern engineering and smart city challenges
🔹 Industry–academia synergy to drive indigenous technology adoption and practical deployment

Members of the Centre for Unmanned Technologies (CUTe), IIUM, actively participated in the Final Presentation & Site Visit for the IMAP Grant, conducted across two comprehensive sessions on 13 & 14 October 2026.

Driving the Future of Autonomous Mobility at Stage 2 of the NxGV Challenge (DV) 2026 Carbot Challenge! 🚗🤖✨

The Centre for Unmanned Technologies (CUTe), IIUM, was proud to co-organise the NxGV Challenge Driverless Vehicle (DV) 2026 Carbot Challenge (Stage 2), held from 25 to 26 September 2026 at MARii Cyberjaya!

Organised in strategic partnership by SAE Malaysia, MARii, and CUTe IIUM, and generously sponsored by Perodua, the challenge brought together bright engineering talents from across the nation to test and demonstrate cutting-edge autonomous vehicle platforms.

Under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad bin Abdullah from the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, KOE, the event provided participants with hands-on, high-stakes experience in:

CUTe Concludes IMaP Project Handover & Technology Transfer at Delloyd R&D

The Centre for Unmanned Technologies (CUTe), IIUM, is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Final Project Presentation, Project Delivery, and Technology & Knowledge Transfer under the IMaP Project at Delloyd R&D Sdn. Bhd.

CUTe at the Strategic Roundtable on On-Campus Autonomous Vehicle Mobility

The Centre for Unmanned Technologies (CUTe), IIUM, was honoured to participate in the strategic roundtable on “On-Campus Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Mobility: Synergizing Academic R&D, Safety Frameworks, and Industry Talent”, held on 27 August 2026 at GATE 2026, MITEC, Kuala Lumpur.

CUTe was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdullah and Dr. Ahmad Imran Ibrahim, following an invitation from SAE International Malaysia, together with MARii and MIROS.

The roundtable brought together key stakeholders from government agencies, industry and higher education institutions to discuss the establishment of a unified academic consortium for autonomous vehicle research and development in Malaysia.

Among the key outcomes of the discussion were:

🔹 The formation of an academic AV consortium

🔹 Alignment with the Ministry of Higher Education's focus clusters

🔹 Strategic oversight involving SAE International Malaysia, MARii and MIROS

🔹 Collaboration among participating universities and institutions

🔹 Identification of immediate research, infrastructure and development needs among consortium members

The initiative represents an important step towards strengthening Malaysia's ecosystem for autonomous vehicle research, safety frameworks, talent development and technology innovation.

CUTe at the Official MoA Signing Between IIUM KOE and HDJ Drone Technology Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.

The Centre for Unmanned Technologies (CUTe) is proud to announce the official signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between IIUM’s Kulliyyah of Engineering (KOE) and HDJ Drone Technology Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., held on 26 August 2026 at the Senate Hall, MAR Building, IIUM.

Driven by the expertise of CUTe researchers, the MoA was signed by IIUM Deputy Rector (Academic & Internationalisation), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Faris Ismail, and Dean of KOE, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khairul Azami Sidek, together with HDJ Director, Mr. Chua Jing Yit, and witnessed by Dato’ Seri Haji Amli.

Executed under the Made-in-Malaysia “AI x Drone” Program, the collaboration aims to advance national autonomous capabilities and smart drone systems.

Among the key focus areas and outcomes of this partnership are:

🔹 Development of AI-powered detection cameras

🔹 Design and integration of advanced tracking algorithms

🔹 Advancement of local unmanned and autonomous technology capabilities

🔹 Expansion of collaborative research, commercialization, and innovation opportunities

🔹 High-value industry-ready talent development in aerospace and AI engineering
