Malaysian Anatomical Association

Malaysian Anatomical Association This is the official page for Malaysian Anatomical Association (MAA) However, the association did not have much activities.

Malaysian Anatomical Association (MAA) was first established in October 2003 during the 1st Malaysian Anatomical Conference, which was held in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, Malaysia. At that time, Profesor Dr. Othman Mansor was elected as the first chairman of the Ad-Hoc committee of MAA. The 2nd Anatomical Conference was held in June 2011 in Universiti Teknologi MARA

(UiTM) in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. The conference managed to re-established the Ad-Hoc committee with a total of 7 members elected. The committee included anatomists from Kuala Lumpur and different states of Malaysia (Selangor, Perak, Kuantan, Sarawak, Kedah). Many years gone by without much of activities. For the third time, an Ad-Hoc meeting was organised by Department of Anatomy, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. This was followed by the success of the First Annual General Meeting, organised at Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia on the 21st September 2013. The AGM was attended by many anatomists from all over Malaysia. The MAA Committee Members for the session of 2013-2015 were finally elected. Meetings were carried out immediately to establish, plan and keep the ball rolling for MAA.

Silent Mentor Program (SMP) under the Faculty of Medicine, University Malaya (UM) is a voluntary body donation program for research and medical education. The participants and trainers of SMP will treat the body donors (silent mentors) as their teachers.

For your information, SMP UM is organizing the next session Short Course in Clinical Anatomy for Medical Students November 2025 session in collaboration with the Malaysian Anatomical Association (MAA).

The details are as follows:
Date: 8th November 2025, Saturday
Time: 9am-12pm
Venue: Anatomy Dissection Hall, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya

Short Course in Clinical Anatomy for Medical Students is an anatomy teaching session for undergraduate students studying medicine. The session will be delivered in the anatomy dissection room by a few of the trainers in their subspecialty in Head Neck, O&G, Orthopedic and general surgeon. Our target audience are Bachelor in Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS) degree medical students.

In this short course, undergraduate medical students will be shown clinically important organs and tissue structures of the abdominal cavity, neck, and limbs. Within one and a half hours, they will be able to examine these structures to appreciate the organs and tissues in their natural condition. Later, the students can have a better understanding in both the physiological and pathological conditions of the human body.

Attached herewith the brochure of the short course.

Kindly promote this to your medical students, especially those in their senior years. With this short exposure, we hope the students can better understand both the physiological and pathological conditions of the human body.

Any inquiry, you may contact Ms. Dayang at 012-3042561 or email [email protected]. Do follow SMP official website,https://silentmentor org/ and page, https://www.facebook.com/smpfomum/.
