How much natural product potential is still sitting in our rainforests? Quite a lot, it turns out. 🌿

Our colleagues Edmund Lau, Head of Scientific Commercialisation, and Amirrul Rizwan, Sales & Growth Manager, joined a Focus Group Discussion on Natural Product Development in Malaysia conducted by Bioeconomy Corporation.

One thing came through strongly: Malaysia has enormous potential, and Borneo’s extraordinary biodiversity gives us a particularly interesting place to start.

But getting from an interesting natural resource to a product on the shelf is a long road. There is research and validation, sustainable sourcing, product development, regulation and claims, manufacturing, commercialisation, and, importantly, ensuring that communities and biodiversity benefit along the way.

That is a challenge we know rather well at BioVerde Technologies.

The discussion was a useful exchange on what needs to happen across science, regulation and industry to responsibly unlock more of that potential.

Exploring what’s possible at the intersection of research, industry and commercialisation, BVT’s discussion with Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak centred on opportunities linked to the Sarawak Bioindustrial Park (SBP) and potential areas of collaboration.

Aligned with Swinburne’s Research Master Plan 2030, the conversation explored how research and innovation can be translated into practical industry applications, with stronger pathways from discovery to commercialisation.

The session was led by Professor Ida Fatimawati bt Adi Badiozaman, then Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) at Swinburne Sarawak, who guided a valuable exchange on areas of mutual interest and potential collaboration.

We look forward to building stronger connections between research, innovation and industry, and creating lasting impact for Sarawak’s bioeconomy. 🌱

Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Allahyarham Mohd Azhar Rashid bin Azman.

Azhar and the team at Borneo Digital have been with BVT since our earliest days, helping us lay the foundations as we built the company from the ground up. His generosity with his time, knowledge and support meant a great deal to us.

We often speak about Building Value Together. Azhar was one of those who helped us do exactly that from the very beginning.

We are grateful that he was part of BVT’s journey, and he will be greatly missed.

May Allah SWT shower him with mercy and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. Our prayers are with his family, friends and the Borneo Digital team.

🌿 Turning innovation into impact was at the heart of the conversation at IUC Summit 2026.

We were honoured to have our CEO, Ts. Hazwan Razak, join an insightful panel discussion alongside Ts. Dr Joel Than Chia Ming, Head of Department & Senior Lecturer, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, Ir. Assoc. Prof. Hudyjaya Siswoyo Jo, Director, Centre for Digital Futures, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak and Ts. Diana Ho Ak Maling, Founder & CEO, Tajau Berseri Consulting where they explored the opportunities and challenges in accelerating innovation and strengthening the bioeconomy ecosystem in Sarawak.

Ts. Hazwan shared BVT’s vision of accelerating the commercialisation of bio-based innovations and strengthening the pathway from research to industry, transforming promising discoveries into market-ready products through stronger collaboration between government, academia and industry.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of strengthening product certification and industry readiness, while creating more opportunities for bio-based innovations to progress from research and development into local and global markets, while ensuring that communities are always involved.

As Sarawak continues to advance the Sarawak Bioindustrial Park (SBP) and its growing bioeconomy ecosystem, BVT remains committed to working closely with universities, research institutions and industry partners to unlock the commercial potential of Sarawak’s biodiversity and create stronger pathways for innovation to reach the market.

As we look ahead, we believe biodiversity research and responsible innovation can continue contributing to a future that is more resilient, more purposeful, and distinctly rooted in what makes Malaysia unique. It is also a reminder that part of the country’s long-term strength lies in its natural wealth. In Sarawak, biodiversity continues to be an important source of knowledge, discovery, and innovation, and at BioVerde, that is where our work is rooted in.

Our team had the pleasure of connecting with the Centre of Research, Development, Innovation and Economy (RDICE), UNIMAS for an introductory visit and an inspiring exchange on the potential of bio-based innovation, research, and commercialisation.

We were pleased to meet Associate Professor Dr. Elexson Nillian, Deputy Director of RDICE, and Associate Professor Ts. Noraziah Abdul Wahab, Assistant Vice Chancellor (Industry & Community Engagement and Sustainability), who shared valuable perspectives on the role of research, innovation, and industry collaboration in creating meaningful impact.

The conversation gave us an opportunity to learn more about the work and capabilities within the UNIMAS ecosystem, while also exploring areas where research findings and innovative ideas can be further developed and translated into practical opportunities.

Our team had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Ferick Tjan, Committee Chairman for Bilateral, Digitalisation and Creative Industry, Dr. Muhammad Fahmi, Committee Chairman for Economic Development, Trade, SME and Investment in Border Areas, and Ms. Uray Emma Yaniaries N., Director of Perumda Aneka Usaha Menanjak Bahagia in Kubu Raya Regency, for an engaging discussion on potential collaboration between Sarawak and Indonesia.
