Organised by UNDP Malaysia, the Policy Dialogue on Advancing Just Transition brought together federal and state agencies, private sector and civil society to explore how local perspectives can shape Malaysia’s shift toward a green and resilient future.

Sarawak was well represented, with colleagues from Economic Planning Unit Sarawak, Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESTy), Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications (MUT), Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation and Sarawak Energy contributing to the discussion. Their presence signalled a shared commitment to ensuring that the transition ahead is fair, grounded in reality and responsive to the needs of rural, underserved, and resource-dependent communities.

For BioVerde Technologies, the conversation aligns closely with our mandate. We exist to help translate biodiversity research and traditional knowledge into sustainable economic value for communities, supporting the broader transition through responsible commercialisation.

We may be a new organisation, but our role is clear. Sarawak is moving with purpose, and we are committed to contributing alongside the wider ecosystem. 🌿

Grateful for the mention in today’s Sarawak State Legislative Assembly winding-up speech by YB Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development.

His speech highlighted the role of both the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) and BioVerde Technologies (BVT), which are agencies under his ministry. He reaffirmed BVT’s mandate to commercialise scientific discoveries and ensure that the value created from Sarawak’s biodiversity brings real and sustainable economic benefits to local communities.

We are proud to carry this mandate forward. 🌿

Our little standee had quite a weekend. 🌿

BioVerde Technologies made an appearance at Lan Berambeh Sarawak 2025 — quietly representing Sarawak’s growing bioindustry at our parent Ministry, MEITD’s booth in MITEC, Kuala Lumpur.

Along the way, it met friends from across sibling GLCs and agencies (and even the Deputy Prime Minister!).

A small presence, but part of a much bigger story — Sarawak’s journey from biodiversity to bioindustry. 🍃

On 22nd October 2025, the Sarawak Biodiversity Council (SBC) and Sarawak Artificial Intelligence Centre (SAIC) Sdn Bhd formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2025 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

This MoU signifies a strategic collaboration to integrate biodiversity and traditional knowledge databases with AI technologies, harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence to digitally transform and valorise Sarawak’s rich biodiversity assets.

The MoU exchange between Margarita Naming, Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, and Dr Patrick Then, Chief Executive Officer for Sarawak Artificial Intelligence Centre took place at the Startup Village of IDECS2025.

It was witnessed by YB Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development II (Talent Development), who represented Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development.

This milestone marks BVT’s first MoU, signed with the Bioeconomy Corporation during the Opening Ceremony of IDECS 2025, witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak.

Together, we’re advancing the shared mission of the Council — bridging research, innovation, and industry to turn Sarawak’s biodiversity into sustainable, bio-based opportunities. 🌱

On 22nd October 2025, BVT and the Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation (Bioeconomy Corporation) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the Opening Ceremony of International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2025. The signing and exchange of the MoU was witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak, The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

Representing BVT was its Chairman YBhg Dato Sri Dr Wan Lizozman bin Wan Omar (Chairman) and CEO, Ts. Hazwan bin Razak. Bioeconomy Corporation was represented by their Chairman YBhg Dato’ Dr Lee Boon Chye and CEO, En. Mohd Khairul Fidzal Abdul Razak.

This partnership outlines six key areas of collaboration — accelerating commercialisation, generating sustainable value, fostering innovation and research, expanding ecosystem value, sharing knowledge and intelligence, and advancing Malaysia’s sustainable bioeconomy.

Congratulations to Yang Berbahagia Datu Haji Adana bin Haji Jed, Director at BioVerde Technologies and Deputy Chairman of the Sarawak Biodiversity Council, on receiving the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (D.J.B.S.), which grants the title 'Datu'.

This honour was bestowed by His Excellency The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Hj Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, in conjunction with His Excellency’s 79th birthday, on the 11th of October 2025.
