Strengthening Industry–Academia Collaboration for Malaysia’s Semiconductor Future

On 25 July 2026, we were honoured to participate in the Majlis Peluncuran Pelan Tindakan Pembangunan Bakat dan Syarikat Pemula Bumiputera bagi Industri Semikonduktor 2026–2030, officiated by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia.

At the invitation of University of Science (USM) and the organizers, SilTerra Malaysia was represented at the event by our CEO, Matthew Tan, and Senior Director of Human Resources & Legal/Secretarial, Dr. Zambri, reaffirming our commitment to strengthening industry–academia collaboration and contributing to the development of a future-ready semiconductor workforce.

As Malaysia continues to strengthen its position in the global semiconductor ecosystem, close collaboration between industry, academia and government is critical to nurturing talent, advancing research and innovation, accelerating technology transfer, and creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation of semiconductor professionals.

We look forward to deepening our strategic partnership with USM as well as with other Institutions of Higher Learning (IHLs) and playing our part in building a stronger, more resilient and globally competitive semiconductor industry in Malaysia.

Together, let us shape the talent, technologies and capabilities that will power Malaysia’s next chapter of semiconductor growth.

Strengthening Malaysia–Korea Semiconductor Collaboration

6 August 2026 - It was an honour and privilege to welcome H.E. Yeo Seung-bae, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Malaysia, and his distinguished delegation from the Korean Embassy in KL and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) representatives to SilTerra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.

The delegation was received by our Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir, together with our CEO, Matthew Tan Hooi Sin, and members of our leadership team.

The visit provided valuable opportunity to showcase SilTerra’s advanced semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, technology portfolio, global customer base and strategic roadmap, while exchanging perspectives on the rapidly evolving global semiconductor landscape.

We were particularly pleased to share our ambitions in emerging semiconductor technologies and next-generation applications, as well as explore potential avenues for deeper collaboration with Korean industry and technology players.

As Malaysia and the Republic of Korea continue to strengthen their economic and technological ties, we believe there is significant potential to build stronger partnerships across the semiconductor value chain — from technology and innovation to manufacturing, talent and market development. We look forward to continuing this meaningful dialogue and exploring opportunities that can create shared value and strengthen the resilience of the global semiconductor ecosystem.
