GPES, in collaboration with Integrated PDP Sdn Bhd, conducted a technical engagement session with Westports Malaysia to address ongoing asset performance issues and operational challenges impacting system efficiency.

The discussion focused on the implementation of a data-driven Asset Performance Management (APM) framework, encompassing failure pattern analysis, root cause identification, and the integration of real-time field data acquisition from critical equipment. This approach enables the development of predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies aimed at reducing unplanned downtime and improving overall asset reliability.

In addition, the session explored the application of advanced analytics and performance dashboarding to deliver real-time, actionable insights for both operations and maintenance teams. This integration is expected to enhance decision-making processes, optimize maintenance costs, and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

This strategic collaboration reflects a forward step towards digital transformation in port operations through the adoption of advanced analytics and real-time data integration.

Did you know?

Quay Crane operations demand not only power, but precision.

One of the key technologies enabling this is the Anti-sway Control System — designed to minimize load oscillation during hoisting and trolley travel.

By integrating sensors, real-time control algorithms, and variable frequency drives (VFD), the system actively stabilizes container movement, resulting in:

Improved positioning accuracy
Reduced cycle time (higher moves per hour)
Enhanced operational safety
Lower mechanical stress on crane components

In high-throughput container terminals, even small improvements in sway control can significantly impact overall productivity and vessel turnaround time.

A good reminder that in port operations to control and stability are just as critical as lifting capacity.

GPES was honoured to welcome Mr. Alex from Villari to Malaysia.
Throughout the session, we exchanged real-world insights on asset management challenges in port environments that includes manual inspection limitations and operational risks to the growing need for digital transformation in maintenance workflows.

Our discussion naturally progressed into deeper technical topics such as sensor‑based structural monitoring, data interpretation, and how Villari’s technology can complement GPES’ mission to deliver more accurate, safe, and efficient maintenance solutions for our clients.
A meaningful meeting that opened new perspectives and future collaboration opportunities.

Did you know?

More than 80% of goods in the world are transported by sea because it is cheaper and suitable for large quantities.

Ports act as the main hubs to handle the movement of these goods.
Without ports, global trade would not run smoothly.

GPES visited Westports on 8 April 2026 for a dedicated technical session introducing GPES and the Villari technologi system sensor. The engagement served as an in‑depth platform to demonstrate how Villari’s sensor technology enables continuous, real‑time visibility into the structural integrity of critical port equipment.

Our discussion with the Westport Maintenance & Repair Department focused on the deployment of ultrasonic guided‑wave sensors, real‑time fatigue and crack propagation monitoring, and predictive maintenance workflows tailored for high‑load, high‑cycle port assets. We explored how continuous data acquisition, automated anomaly detection, and long‑term trend analysis can support more accurate decision‑making, reduce unplanned downtime, and extend asset lifecycle performance.

This session marks an important step toward integrating advanced solutions within Westports’ maintenance ecosystem enabling a shift from schedule based maintenance to a more precision‑driven, data‑centric reliability strategy that aligns with the operational demands of modern port environments.
