Our Regional Total Rewards Lead, Jaime Liew, had the privilege of moderating the panel discussion "Moving away from an 'entitlement' mentality: Repositioning total rewards as a driver of culture and change" at the Total Rewards Asia Summit Malaysia 2026.

Together with an esteemed panel of HR leaders, the discussion explored how organisations can reposition total rewards beyond compensation and benefits to strengthen organisational culture, reinforce a sustainable employee value proposition (EVP), and support meaningful organisational change.

Key conversations centred on why benefits should be viewed as a hygiene factor rather than a headline promise, how organisations can challenge long-held expectations around employer responsibilities, and the important role people managers play in embedding a rewards strategy that balances culture, cost, utilisation, and individual choice.

Thank you to Human Resources Online for the opportunity to facilitate this insightful discussion, and to the fellow panellists and participants for sharing their valuable perspectives.

In conjunction with the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem on 26 July, we reflect on the progress of the Mangrove Conservation and Climate Action for Sustainable Living Programme (2024–2028)—our five-year partnership with the Global Environment Centre (GEC).

Building on our efforts in 2024 and 2025, the programme’s 2026 planting phase was carried out on 4 July along the Kuala Sungai Muda riverine area in Kota Kuala Muda, Kedah. The activity brought together 115 participants from GEC, Pengurusan Lembangan Sungai Muda (PLSM), the Kedah State Forestry Department, local communities, schools and Leader Energy to plant 1,000 Rhizophora apiculata trees.

This latest planting brings the programme’s cumulative total to 12,000 mangrove trees. The restoration effort will help strengthen riverbank stability, reduce erosion and enhance the local nursery’s capacity to nurture up to 4,000 saplings. It also contributes to Kedah’s target of planting two million trees between 2025 and 2030.

The programme supports Respecting the Environment, one of Leader Energy’s key strategic themes encompassing renewable energy, decarbonisation, biodiversity conservation, and responsible waste and water management.

Together with GEC, government agencies, schools, local communities and volunteers, we are not simply planting trees. We are restoring ecosystems, strengthening climate resilience and building a lasting legacy for the communities of Kuala Muda.

We're proud to see our Regional Total Rewards Lead, Jaime Liew, featured in Human Resources Online's Faces of HR series, where she shares her insights on how data, human psychology, and business strategy come together to create total rewards programmes that support employee engagement, performance, and long-term organisational success.

Jaime will also be moderating a panel discussion at the Total Rewards Asia Summit Malaysia 2026 on 22 July 2026 titled "Moving away from an 'entitlement' mentality: Repositioning total rewards as a driver of culture and change." The session will explore how organisations can move beyond viewing total rewards as a standalone benefit and instead leverage it to shape organisational culture, strengthen their employee value proposition (EVP), and drive meaningful organisational change.

From turning spreadsheet insights into practical people solutions to shaping rewards across Southeast Asia, she shares why understanding what motivates employees is just as important as market data and compensation benchmarks.

Today, we marked the groundbreaking of Leader Solar Energy III (LSE III), a 99MWac large-scale solar project in Kedah awarded to us under Malaysia's Large-Scale Solar 5+ (LSS5+) Programme.

Officiated by our Founder, Tan Sri Dato' Seri H'ng Bok San, together with Dato' Sean H'ng, Executive Deputy Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer, and Datin Seri Jessica H'ng, Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of Leader Energy, the ceremony marked the official start of construction of our third utility-scale solar project in Kedah.

Building on the successful delivery of LSE and LSE II, LSE III reinforces our continued commitment to advancing Malaysia's energy transition through reliable, high-quality renewable energy infrastructure. Scheduled to commence operations in 2027, the project will contribute additional renewable energy capacity to the national grid while supporting the objectives of the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

Every project we undertake brings us one step closer to Powering Asia's Energy Transition.

We look forward to delivering another project that creates lasting value for our stakeholders and the communities we serve.
