Behind every big tournament is a team of the best people to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. When the stands are full with almost 100,000 fans, structural safety and asset integrity are the highest priorities.

The huge steel roof structures are protected against atmospheric corrosion by high-performance protective coatings, the first line of defence, just as a solid backline protects the goal. Active cathodic protection, in contrast, is like the holding midfielder, unseen but vital, protecting the sub-surface infrastructure beneath the pitch from the ravages of the elements.

It would not be possible to maintain these high consequence venues on such a massive scale without strict asset integrity management keeping watch.

That’s a wrap on an insightful afternoon at Mid Valley!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Craig Botha’s technical session on AC Interference Assessment!

Craig broke down complex fault-condition findings and personnel safety criteria using a real-world 132 kV single-circuit underground cable, giving us plenty of practical insights to take back to our engineering projects.
