This private bungalow project was one of them.

The design called for a custom multi-zone pool, premium tiled finishes, a sunken seating area and a large transparent acrylic wall — creating an experience where the pool could be seen and enjoyed from more than one level.

Residensi Dedaun’s swimming pool was originally conceived as a conventional RC infinity pool, complete with a conventional hydraulic arrangement and balancing tank.

When Hydro One® came into the project, our proposal was not simply to substitute one construction material for another. We went back to the engineering.

Pool geometry, overflow requirements, circulation, M&E equipment and construction methodology were re-evaluated around the project’s actual concerns.

One of the most significant outcomes? The balancing tank could be omitted.
That allowed valuable building space to be reclaimed while removing another major component from the pool system.

At the same time, the architectural intent still had to remain intact - including the large infinity pool, the custom oval wading pool, tiled finishing and the precision levelling required by the infinity edge.

Hydro One® FUSION allowed the pool structure to be prefabricated off-site in engineered modules, before being assembled and integrated on the elevated facilities deck.

The result is perhaps the most important part of the story: a non-conventional construction method that does not look non-conventional at all.
Just a sparkling, fully tiled infinity pool - performing as promised.

Some pools are added to a home.
Others are designed as part of it.

This project began with a bold architectural idea - a custom adult pool positioned beside a sunken seating area, with a transparent pool wall creating a floating-water effect from the lower living space.

Beautiful on the surface. But making it work required much more beneath it.

The pool called for a custom multi-zone geometry, an overall width beyond the practical limits of conventional one-piece delivery, a kids pool, integrated steps, spa features and a large acrylic viewing panel.

That is why we turned to Hydro One® FUSION.

Instead of transporting the completed pool as one oversized shell, the composite structure was prefabricated in carefully designed sections, delivered to site, positioned and structurally fused into its final form.

The transparent wall demanded another level of precision. Its supporting recess had to be correctly designed and fabricated to hold the panel securely.
The acrylic-to-pool interface had to remain watertight.
Panel thickness had to safely accommodate water pressure. And the panel itself had to provide long-term clarity and outdoor durability.

Then came another misconception we wanted this project to challenge:
Prefabricated doesn’t mean standard.
Composite doesn’t mean untiled.

This Hydro One® FUSION pool is finished in TERRA HJ86807 stone-look porcelain tiles - giving it the premium appearance and underfoot experience of a beautifully tiled pool while retaining a prefabricated composite pool structure at its core.

The final result?
A pool that follows the architecture.
A transparent wall that turns water into part of the living space.
And a custom design realised without being confined to a conventional one-piece shell.
