When you're walking down the airplane cabin aisle and turbulence hits, what do you grab?
The headrest next to you? The hair of the passenger sitting in it?
There's a better option. Most people just don't know it exists.
Look up. Specifically, look at the underside of the overhead bin above the aisle.
On many modern aircraft, there's a handrail running along the bottom. It's exactly what it looks like — a rail designed for cabin crew to steady themselves while moving through the cabin.
Passengers can use it too.
The handrails aren't standard on every aircraft, but they've been in use since the early 2000s and are common on newer planes.
