As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen preparedness in managing water pollution incidents, Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB) in collaboration with Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS) successfully organised an Oil Spillage Briefing and Simulation Programme at Kolam Hang Tuah, Mukim Ijok.
The programme was jointly officiated by the Chief Executive Officer of KSSB, Mr. Nizran Noordin, together with the Assistant Director of Planning and Development Division of LUAS, Mr. Nor Zamri Bin Sondor.
Nearly 50 participants comprising personnel from KSSB, LUAS and contractors took part in the programme. Participants were exposed to both theoretical and practical aspects of oil spill management to ensure a more efficient, coordinated and effective response during emergency situations.
The briefing sessions were conducted by experienced officers from LUAS, covering topics such as the LUAS Enactment, oil spill response procedures, water quality sampling methods, as well as on-site simulation exercises designed to provide hands-on experience to participants.
Through programmes like this, participants are able to enhance their understanding, technical competency and confidence in handling emergency incidents, while also strengthening collaboration between agencies and industry players in safeguarding and preserving water resources.
