Previously, we looked at 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗜𝗥) and 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 to understand the early indicators of cell behaviour.

This time, we're exploring another important term in battery safety: 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆.

Thermal runaway is a condition where a cell experiences a rapid and uncontrolled temperature increase due to internal reactions. Studying this behaviour helps us understand how a cell responsds when exposed to extreme conditions.

During this demonstration, the cell is carefully handled using specialized equipment while maintaining a safe distance and following proper safety procedures.

Charging a lead acid forklift battery isn't just plug and wait.

Lead acid batteries release hydrogen gas while charging, which is why they need a dedicated ventilation room to keep the workspace safe.

Lithium batteries don't have this issue. Without hydrogen gas release, no special ventilation room is required, giving more flexibility in how the charging area is planned.

If you caught our last post, you'll know we talked about why the cell is the heart of every lithium battery and why Grade A is the only standard we trust on at BH CELL.

But here's something we fell we need to be honest about.

Not every cell that's labeled "𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗔" actually is.

We know that's uncomfortable to hear. But it's the reality of the battery market right now and we'd rather be upfront about it than have you discover it after you've invested in a battery that doesn't perform as promised.

Counterfeit and misgraded LiFePO4 cells can look almost identical to the real thing. Same markings. Same specs on paper. Same packaging. But the moment they go into a battery and that battery goes into your system, the truth starts to show.
