Jaran's message: Malaysia needs to invest in its grid faster, and going solar should be simpler.
"I don't know if we are investing fast enough upfront for our future grid requirements."
He also said there's a lot of room to cut down the paperwork and approval steps for rooftop solar, so homeowners can switch sooner.

On 6 October, our Deputy CEO Jaran Walia joined the panel “Malaysia Energy Transition 2026: What’s Next After Solar ATAP?” at Solar & Energy Storage Future Malaysia 2026, held at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel.

The panel looked at what comes after rooftop solar: storage, night-time demand and a grid that has to keep up. Jaran made two points:

“I don’t know if we are investing fast enough upfront for our future grid requirements.”
The paperwork and end-to-end approval process for rooftop solar could be streamlined, so homeowners get their systems running sooner.
