The Mechanical Engineering Department is proud to share an update regarding Prof. Dr. Faiz Ahmad, ongoing role as an Approved Assessor for Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) with the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3), London, UK.
Prof. Faiz has served as an Assessor since 2023, regularly conducting interviews with British applicants from high-technology industries and the government sector for professional recognition as Chartered Engineers (C.Eng.) and Fellows of the Institute.
This appointment reflects the department's strong international standing and our faculty's active contribution to the global professional assessment process. We are proud of Prof. Faiz's continued service and the prominence it brings to the department.

The Mechanical Engineering Department at UTP is proud to congratulate Ir Dr Fudhail Abdul Munir on achieving the Asset Reliability Practitioner: ARP-L certification from the Mobius Institute Board of Certification!

This internationally recognised certification confirms that Fudhail has met the rigorous experience, training, and examination requirements for conformity to ED 161-2 (2024) . The certification is ISO/IEC 17024 accredited by JAS-ANZ, reflecting the highest standards of professional competence in asset reliability.

This achievement highlights the department's commitment to producing industry-ready engineers equipped with globally benchmarked skills in asset integrity, reliability, and maintenance. Well done! 👏

The Mechanical Engineering Department is delighted to announce that our researchers have successfully secured new research funding under the NCER Technology Innovation Center (NTIC) – Industry Driven Technology Module Programme (IDTM) 2026.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Mohd Syaifuddin Mohd from the Mechanical Engineering Department, who has been awarded RM 490,000 for his module on Hybrid & Electric Drive Train Systems.

We also congratulate Prof. Ir. Dr. Rosdiazli Ibrahim on securing RM 480,000 for his module on Robotic and Automation.

🏆 1. MIMA Conference Grant – Metal Powder Industries Federation, USA
Prof. Faiz's student, Mr. Mustafa Shahzad, was selected to receive the MIMA Conference Grant totalling USD 1,800 to present at MIM2026 in Jacksonville, Florida (23–25 February 2026). This prestigious award covers the PIM tutorial, full student conference registration, and travel and lodging costs.

🎓 2. Graduate Faculty Status – Central Michigan University, USA
Prof. Faiz has been approved for Graduate Faculty Status (Associate, 3 years) at Central Michigan University, valid from 16 January 2026 to 16 January 2029. This recognition allows him to teach graduate-level courses and serve on thesis and dissertation committees, acknowledging his expertise in composites, polymer processing, mechanical metallurgy, and advanced engineering materials.

🇫🇷 3. Invited Visiting Professor – Arts et Métiers (ENSAM), France
Prof. Faiz has been officially invited as a Visiting Professor at Arts et Métiers (ENSAM), Paris, from 1 October to 31 October 2026. He will be hosted by Prof. Laurent Guillaumat at the LAMPA Laboratory in Angers, reinforcing research and educational ties between UTP and ENSAM.

The Mechanical Engineering Department is proud to congratulate Che Wan Iqbal 'Aqil Che Wan Zuhaini, a final-year Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering student, on his remarkable achievement at the DAAD University Summer Course Program (HSK 2026) at Bielefeld University, Germany!

Iqbal was selected as one of only two Malaysians awarded this fully funded scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for 2026. His program focused on C1 Technical Language in Mechatronics.

🤖 Program Highlights

- Hands-on programming and robotics workshops at CITEC, building and programming an Arduino Nano-based interactive mini-robot.

- Advanced technical German classes covering vocabulary, debates, and academic writing.

- Cultural excursions to Paderborn, Bremen, the Bavarian Alps, and Salzburg, Austria.

Iqbal completed the program with the highest possible grade, "sehr gut" (Very Good), scoring 76/80 on the final technical German examination. He was also chosen to represent his class, delivering a live robotics demonstration and technical explanation entirely in German to an international audience.

The department is immensely proud of Iqbal's accomplishment, which reflects the calibre of our students and their ability to excel on the global stage. Congratulations, Iqbal! 👏
