YOU DON'T NEED A DEGREE TO BUILD THE WORLD
When I talk to younger welders, one thing comes up again and again.
A sense of embarrassment. A feeling that being a welder β a tradesperson β is somehow less than being in a corporate office or a university lecture hall.
I want to talk directly to that feeling. And I want to challenge it.
The buildings people work in? A welder put that steel up.
The bridges they drive across every day? A welder joined those sections together.
The pipelines that heat their homes? Welded.
The vehicles they rely on? Welded.
The equipment that powers hospitals, factories, and ports? Welded.
This trade is not a backup plan. It is a foundation.
And here's what university won't teach you: there is something deeply satisfying about making something with your hands that will outlast you.
A weld made correctly, in the right material, by a skilled welder, can last decades β a century, even. That is legacy. That is craft.
You are not just a worker. You are a builder.
And in a world that increasingly values screens over substance, the person who can actually make things β who can join metal, read a drawing, and solve real physical problems β that person is extraordinarily valuable.
Don't let anyone make you feel otherwise.
Wear your trade with pride. Because the world, quite literally, could not stand without you.
