Today, on 28 May, Namibia commemorates Genocide Remembrance Day, a day to honour the memory of the Ovaherero and Nama people and reflect on a painful chapter of history.
We are honoured to have attended a screening of the documentary “Sorry For The Genocide”, a powerful film planned and produced by members of the IGS Group.
The documentary serves as an important contribution to preserving historical memory and fostering dialogue around justice, reconciliation, and remembrance.
We invite you to watch the trailer and join us in remembering the lives, stories, and resilience of those affected.

🚴 Project update: The L 3080 Elende–Wipperdorf walking and cycling project is making steady progress. The planned 4.07 km route will close an important gap in the network, extending the existing connection from Niedergebra to Elende and providing a safer link for cyclists and pedestrians between local communities.
Detailed design is currently ongoing, with the project in the design/audit stage and technical refinements being worked through as part of the next planning steps. Once complete, the scheme will help improve safety along the L 3080 corridor, which carries around 2,590 vehicles per day.

We look forward to sharing more updates as the design progresses. We are especially excited to bring this expertise to Namibia and local projects — applying the same technical insight, planning approach, and commitment to safer active mobility infrastructure in ways that respond to local needs and contexts. We look forward to helping implement similar people-centred transport solutions that improve connectivity, accessibility, and road safety.
If you are a municipality, developer, road authority, or project partner looking to advance active mobility and safer transport infrastructure in Namibia, let’s connect.

Progress you can see 🚧

Our work on the Stauraumkanal Ilmenau is moving forward step by step and it’s exciting to see the plans taking shape on site.

From detailed planning to on-site ex*****on, it’s all about precision, coordination and teamwork. As IGS Namibia, we were responsible for the formwork and reinforcement plans, making an important contribution to the successful realization on site. Once again, it shows what’s possible when different disciplines come together with one shared goal 🤝

This project plays an important role in improving infrastructure and ensuring long-term functionality where it matters most 💧 We’re proud to be part of a project that combines technical expertise with real impact. Stay tuned for more updates!

Today, we pause to remember.

Cassinga Day is a moment of reflection, honouring those who lost their lives and recognising a significant chapter in Namibia’s history.

It reminds us of resilience, of unity and of the importance of never forgetting the past as we continue to build the future.

At IGS Engineers Namibia, we stand together in remembrance and respect.

Today, we celebrate the people behind the projects 👷🏽‍♀️👷🏼‍♂️

Every plan, every calculation and every construction site milestone starts with dedication, teamwork and a shared commitment to build something meaningful.

At IGS Engineers Namibia, we see every day how much passion and expertise our colleagues bring to the table.

Workers’ Day is a reminder that progress is never a one-person job. It’s the result of many hands, many ideas and a strong team spirit 🤝

Building connections that last 🌉

The Ersebridge project continues to make solid progress bringing us one step closer to strengthening an important transport link as the bridge is part of the B214 and an important regional road connection.

Projects like this require not only engineering expertise, but also careful planning, coordination and a strong team effort at every stage 💡 That's why, for this project, IGS Namibia was responsible for preparing the reinforcement plans, making an important contribution to the precise and efficient realization of the structure.

It’s rewarding to see how ideas turn into structures that people will rely on every day. That’s what drives us: creating infrastructure that stands the test of time.

A big thank you to everyone involved for their commitment and great work 👏

Stronger together across borders 🌍

As part of the IGS Group, we recently had the pleasure of welcoming 35 colleagues from Germany to Namibia for a technical exchange and what an inspiring experience it was!

Over the course of their visit, we shared knowledge, discussed projects and gained valuable insights from different perspectives. It’s always exciting to see how collaboration brings new ideas and fresh approaches to the table 💡

Beyond the professional exchange, it was also about connecting as one team, strengthening relationships and building a shared understanding across locations 🤝

Moments like these remind us that great engineering doesn’t stop at borders. It grows through collaboration.

"The ""Oberbürgermeister-Karl-Lehr"" bridge complex in Duisburg is one of the city’s most important transport links, connecting the port with the southern district. As part of the extensive refurbishment and renewal of the Ruhr and harbor canal bridges spanning two major waterways, IGS Engineers Namibia was involved in the project planning, contributing its expertise to this ambitious infrastructure project.

This video offers a detailed insight into the progress and challenges of the construction works. It highlights complex processes such as the launching of the new bridge segments, on-site quality assurance, and the dismantling of the old structures, some of which are nearly 115 years old. It also looks ahead to upcoming milestones, including the construction of substructures and abutments and the launching of the replacement bridges into their final position in spring 2025.

Follow the different phases of this major project and discover how engineering expertise, careful planning, precision, and teamwork are helping to secure Duisburg’s mobility and infrastructure for decades to come.
