Dynamic Marine Survey & Solutions is looking for 2 experienced Propulsion Engineers to join our technical team in Walvis Bay, Namibia.

We are looking for skilled, hands-on professionals with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in marine propulsion systems, strong fault-finding and repair capabilities, and experience working in marine, offshore, ship repair or shipyard environments.

Applicants must have a valid driver’s licence, valid passport, and be willing to travel locally and internationally for vessel and project requirements.

Tough turnaround. Precision engineering. Reliable results. ⚙️⚓️

The Dynamic Marine Survey & Solutions (DMSS) team recently completed a complex scope of work onboard the vessel Sparfell in the bay of Walvis Bay, covering both crane winch repairs and electrical breaker replacement.

During inspection, the crane winch was found to be failing to hold loads due to incorrectly assembled components and deformed clutch plates. Rather than waiting for overseas spares from Norway, our workshop team engineered a custom spacer locally, overhauled the gearbox, and successfully reinstalled and tested the system.

In addition, our electrical team carried out the replacement of a breaker, including inspection, installation, wiring verification and testing to ensure the system was restored to a reliable and operational condition.

Both scopes were completed within a short turnaround time and delivered safely and on schedule, helping to minimise downtime and return the vessel to operational capacity.

INSPECT. TEST. DELIVER.

Another successful marine maintenance project completed by the Dynamic Marine Survey & Solutions team.

Our engineers carried out a comprehensive inspection of the vessel's forward towing winch, including:

✔ Brake band inspection and assessment
✔ Brake band adjustment and setting
✔ Internal gearbox inspection
✔ Hydraulic system inspection
✔ Fabrication and installation of a custom spacer
✔ Reassembly and recommissioning of the system

Following completion of the maintenance scope, a Bollard Pull Test was successfully conducted, with the winch system performing as expected and achieving 100% satisfactory results.
