The world is at a crossroad, fighting multiple and inextricably nested wars at multiple fronts - geopolitical (hot & cold), technological (the invisible front), cultural (internal front) - with far reaching consequences than most care to imagine.
The cumulative weight of tariffs, geopolitical risk, and shipping disruptions has triggered a fundamental restructuring of global supply chains. The traditional globalized model, built on just-in-time logistics and cost optimization, is being replaced by regionalized, “local-for-local” configurations. Firms are moving to decentralize production, diversify supplier bases, and build modular manufacturing capabilities to mitigate tariff exposure and hedge currency risk.
This shift is not merely tactical; it represents a permanent structural change in how global production is organized. Genpact’s global supply chain lead, Tanguy Caillet, notes that what began as reactive measures “are now hardening into long-term structural change,” with companies abandoning single-country sourcing and accelerating dual- and triple-supplier strategies. Nearly three in four business leaders now prioritize resilience investments, with 74% viewing resilience as a driver of growth rather than a cost center.
