What a trained eye like WOli of 3RD EYE sees instantly, no textbook reader will see no matter how many books are in front of them.
I said something simple but important: You can’t place a cantilever at the edge of a building without a column or a tie-back beam.
That’s structural su***de.
But what happened?
Many so-called “experts” on a WhatsApp group attacked me for it. I had to leave the group. And guess what? I became the topic of their conversations.
Look at the photo again.
How can anyone in their right engineering mind design or approve a cantilever slab hanging on the edge of a structure without a tie beam or supporting column?
What we’re discussing here is not theory, it’s practical structural behavior. I’ve seen cantilever failures on real sites with real consequences. So when I come online to teach, I speak from experience, not guesswork.
You may not like me. You may not like how I say it. But the truth remains the truth.
Truth doesn’t have a second version. It doesn’t bend to your opinion.
If you’re going to design a cantilever, you must tie it back properly. You cannot rest that tie-back on blockwork. That’s a weak link.
You need an edge column a solid vertical support to anchor the tie-back or beam.
Yes, there are exceptional ways to manage it with block walls, but those are special cases with clear detailing and engineering checks.
The safest and most recommended way is to anchor the cantilever with reinforced concrete columns and beams.
So when I speak, I speak to protect lives, not to win arguments.
I’m glad more people are now following the truth even if it’s hard to accept at first.
Keep the insults coming if you like. All it’s doing is giving the truth more visibility.
