Let me attempt the use of descriptive language inspired by the works of my mentor; the renowned literary master, Prof. Wole Soyinka.
INNOCENCE DEFILED: A LAMENT FOR THE BETRAYED!
Youthful brains full of boundless aspirations and shimmering visions, betrayed cruelly by the same system their nascent spirits attach to.
The sneaky tendrils of corruption, a suffocating grip,
Futures are being extinguished, their brilliant brilliance brutally [BBB] dulled by cold.
The sacred promise of education—a shiny façade,
Money pillaged; fates deceived in the vile charade of greed.
Meritocracy scorned, nepotism's fell reign unfurled,
Worthy spirits entangled in the mazelike webs of injustice.
In the sacred halls of knowledge, predators hide.
Despoiling the defenseless is a blasphemy of profanity.
Integrity burned on the unholy altar of corruption,
The future of the nation left to stutter and stumble.
Let the cry of truth be heard, let chains break free,
Let the corroded bonds of unquenchable greed be broken.
Unrestricted potential should be nurtured; allow creative brains flourish.
Reclaim the radiant light of wisdom's way.
For the fate of a nation is contained in each child's clear eyes.
The secret to fly with immeasurable pride is in their interconnected aspirations.
Let not the rotten stench of corruption continue to dominate,
Come forth, Nigerians, and loosen its tight hold and tighten its twisted fist.
