PAIN AS A WEAPON
*Memory Verse:*
1 Peter 5:7 (KJV) — _“Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.”_
*Message:*
When I lost my relationship with my boyfriend, I was broken to the point that life meant nothing to me. I cried tirelessly, night and day. I felt miserable, kept asking God questions, and felt abandoned. Leaving the house felt like a huge stress. My mother tried everything to help me, but I was too lost in pain to listen to anyone. She spoke to my pastor, and my pastor spoke to me, but it didn’t help much. She encouraged me to go out sometimes to free myself. I managed to visit my friend Uduak one day at her sister’s shop, but I didn’t enjoy my stay because my pain distracted me.
During this pain, prayer kept coming to my mind. My mind told me to pray, just like Jesus did when He was sorrowful about His death. Jesus went up to the mountain to pray. I ignored that voice because I felt abandoned by God.
In 1 Samuel 1:1-19, Hannah was in pain, but she turned her pain to God. God answered her and gave her a son. If she hadn’t been provoked to that extent, maybe she would have remained childless. If she had kept glorifying her pain by crying, her story wouldn’t have changed. But in her pain, she went to God, and that became her weapon of victory.
In every situation we find ourselves, only Jesus should be glorified. We shouldn’t give glory to the devil by dwelling in our pain. Always look at the bright side of every situation. It might not be easy, but ensure your situation brings you closer to God.
1 Samuel 1:18 (b) says, _“So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.”_ After speaking to God about your pain, don’t go back to dwelling on it. Hannah went back, ate, and lived her life, no longer bothered by her situation. God stepped in and gave her victory.
*Points to Note:*
- Pain is real.
- Jesus should be glorified in every situation we face.
- Don’t dwell in your pain for long.
- Always pray.
