Six Disadvantages of Applying Tyrolean on an Unplastered Wall
1. Poor Adhesion – Tyrolean won’t bond well directly to a rough, unplastered wall surface. Over time, it may start to peel, crack, or flake off because the base isn’t smooth or sealed.
2. Uneven Finish – An unplastered wall has irregularities and rough patches that make the Tyrolean finish look patchy or inconsistent, reducing its decorative appeal.
3. Reduced Durability – Without plaster as a protective base, moisture and dirt can pe*****te the wall through the Tyrolean layer, leading to dampness, wall damage, or early deterioration.
4. Higher Material Consumption – The rough and porous wall surface absorbs more material, requiring extra Tyrolean mix to achieve proper coverage and increasing overall cost.
5. Difficult Application – Applying Tyrolean directly to an unplastered wall is harder to control; the uneven texture can cause clogging in the Tyrolean gun and make it difficult to achieve a consistent coat.
6. Poor Weather Resistance – Without the plaster base, the Tyrolean coating is more exposed to rain, frost, and temperature changes, leading to cracks and a shorter lifespan.
