Solar strings run 300V - 1500V DC.
MC4s are rated 1000VDC/1500VDC and have touch-safe design.
No exposed metal = No shock hazard for you or your installer.

*MYTH 1: “Solar doesn’t work in rainy season / cloudy weather”*
*TRUTH:* Solar works with _light_, not just direct sun. Panels still produce 25-40% on cloudy days. You just size the system correctly for rainy season.

*MYTH 2: “Solar can power everything including 3 ACs with small budget”*
*TRUTH:* It CAN, but it costs. Power is money. You can’t buy a 1.5kVA system for ₦2M and expect it to carry 2 deep freezers + AC. Proper load audit is key.

*MYTH 3: “Bigger inverter means more power”*
*TRUTH:* No. Panels + Batteries determine your power. Inverter is just the gateway. A 10kVA inverter with 4 panels is still a small system.

*MYTH 4: “Lithium batteries last forever”*
*TRUTH:* They last 10-15 years (6000 cycles), not forever. But they last 4x longer than lead-acid and are worth it.

*MYTH 5: “All solar panels are the same, just buy the cheapest”*
*TRUTH:* Grade A vs Grade B is life and death for your system. Cheap panels lose efficiency fast, have hotspots, and give fake wattage.

*MYTH 6: “Once you install solar, NEPA bill is zero forever”*
*TRUTH:* If you are still connected to grid and use it as backup, you still pay service charge. Solar reduces bill drastically, but maintenance is also needed.

*MYTH 7: “Solar installation is a one-day quick job for anybody”*
*TRUTH:* Proper design, cable sizing, protection, earthing takes expertise. A badly installed solar is a fire risk.

*Common Short Terms In The Solar Industry & Their Meaning* ☀️⚡

Save this. Share this. Every solar client and engineer should know this 👇

*1. PV* - _Photovoltaic_
The technology that converts sunlight to electricity. Your solar panel = PV module.

*2. kWp* - _Kilowatt Peak_
The maximum power your panels can produce under standard test conditions. e.g. 8 x 620W = 4.96kWp system.

*3. kWh* - _Kilowatt Hour_
Unit of energy you USE. Your bill is in kWh. 1kWh = 1 unit.

*4. Ah* - _Ampere Hour_
Battery capacity. e.g. 200Ah battery.

*5. DoD* - _Depth of Discharge_
How much of your battery you can safely use. Lithium = 80-90% DoD. Lead-acid = 50% DoD.

*6. Vmp / Voc / Imp / Isc*
- *Vmp* - Voltage at Max Power (working voltage)
- *Voc* - Open Circuit Voltage (max voltage, no load)
- *Imp* - Current at Max Power (working current)
- *Isc* - Short Circuit Current (max current)

*7. MPPT* - _Maximum Power Point Tracker_
Smart device inside your inverter/charge controller that squeezes max power from your panels. Always choose MPPT over PWM.

*8. PWM* - _Pulse Width Modulation_
Old, cheap type of charge controller. Wastes power. Don’t use for big systems.

*9. AC / DC*
- *AC* - Alternating Current (what powers your house)
- *DC* - Direct Current (what panels and batteries produce)

*10. MC4* - _Multi-Contact 4mm_
Standard waterproof connector for joining solar panels.

*11. BMS* - _Battery Management System_
The brain inside lithium batteries that protects it from overcharge, over-discharge, and heat.

*12. Inverter*
Converts DC (from panels/battery) to AC (for your house).
