Time to time companies find themselves in position where adding more members to the software development team have counter productive effect - instead of speeding up development - it slows it down. Such teams are are not scalable.

More worrisome is situation where exit of one or two team members can halt an on-going project sometimes making the team start a project afresh, this happens more with small teams working with few devs or freelancers. Such teams are not resilent.

These things leaves engineers and business owners frustrated and pointing fingers.

A lot goes into building SCALABLE AND RESILENT software development teams, but in this article, I discussed how DOCUMENTATION can help software development teams improve scalability and resiliency drawing from my over four years experience as Software Engineer across teams and industries.

If you are studying Physics, Chemistry, or Math and are in your third year, you should be able to develop at least 2D mathematical models in at least one area and be able to code the model. You should be familiar with tools like Console Physics (not sure of the name anymore), Quantum Expressor, MATLAB, and similar software.

In Economics, you should be able to develop relatively complex economic models and code them.

In Pharmacy, by your fourth year, you should be deeply involved in computational pharmacology software for bio-modeling, drug absorption modeling, etc. The same goes for those in Biosciences.

If you are in Public Administration, Business Administration, or Office Technology, by your third year you should be at least proficient in Google Sheets. You should be able to set up complex business accounting automations there. There are other skills you should also be able to master.

If you cannot do these by your third year, it will take a lot of connections to avoid selling wig or doing house agent when you graduate.
