Shelter should never be for the rich and wealthy alone. Shelter is a primary need for man from any economic class.
Block and mortar (conventional materials) have come to stay as we can see, but its dominance has come with financial difficulties posing as a threat to man's realization of his shelter dreams.
To a layman, block and mortar are the only viable means and materials for erecting structures for our various use.
The financial difficulties I earlier talked of has to do with budgeting required to see a building stand from foundation to finish to turning key over. With the 'ever steady' Nigerian market, these projects for an adequate residential abode runs into 50m - 100m NGN and above.
With extensive research in the building construction industry personally from our readings, journeys and exploration, shipping containers have been tested globally especially in western countries and major parts of Asia.
Shipping containers are cheap, conservative, economizes space and most importantly, saves tremendous cost for the client (owner).
The design proposition below is known as Cargotecture (merge of the words, cargo and architecture). This suits for lovers of simplicity, uniqueness and minimalism.
