African Biosciences Ltd (ABL) signs an MOU with Nigerian Institute of Science Lab Tech (NISLT) for collaborations in research and capacity building.

By this MOU, NISLT molecular lab becomes an extension of ABL's lab. This gives ABL access to high-end equipment such as HPLC, ABI Real-Time PCR, Ultra-low storage facility, etc to serve the Nigerian market.

Kudos to the Director General of NISLT Yemi H. Gbadegesin (in red cap) who worked hard to make this MOU happen. At the event is also the Chairman of the Governing Council of NISLT Mr. Obaseki A. Charles.

The beginning of bioinformatics in Nigeria dates back to the early part of year 2000, and so far it is still developing, with modest accomplishments.

Despite having the required setup in some laboratories for work, researchers often lack the computational infrastructure to analyze the magnitude of data that results from genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics experiments.

To address this need, African Biosciences Ltd pioneered efforts to provide training in bioinformatics, genomics and molecular biology to Nigerian scientists.

This training workshops demonstrates the importance of using bioinformatics tools for closing the loop between learning and practice.

Researchers can then apply the data analysis techniques that they learned in the workshop in an ideal computing environment.
