The Ogun–Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ) has once again demonstrated its commitment to uplifting local communities through the 2025 Annual Empowerment Program (Quiz and Debate Competitions) held at the Igbesa Community Civic Center.
Organized by the Management of Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone(OGFTZ) China-Africa Investment FZC in partnership with Wema Bank, Stanbic IBTC, China Nigeria Glass (CNG), Century FZE, Bordar FZE, Sun Ceramics, Wayne FZE, JN Ceramics, TDH, Caverton, Back to School FZE, Rixing FZE, Nitoo FZE, SG Steel FZE, H&P, DOUBLE PLUS FZE, huaxin knitting nig FZE, Union Furniture FZE, Adonis Kitchen Industry (NIG) FZE, Zone Supermarket, Hexing Packaging Industry FZE, Bestway Technology FZE Magnate International FZE and FUQUN INDUSTRIES FZE. The event brought together traditional leaders, educators, and government representatives all united in celebrating academic excellence.
The lively quiz and debate competition featuring brilliant students from public primary and secondary schools in Igbesa and Ejila-Awori.
The Consul General of China in Lagos, Yan Yuqing, applauded the initiative for strengthening cultural understanding and noted the growing China–Nigeria partnership, with bilateral trade now reaching $20 billion.
Representing the Oloja Ekun of Igbesaland, HRM Oba Abdulazeez Akinde, HRM Engr. Teslim Olayemi Nasiru, encouraged students to embrace excellence and commended the organizers for investing in education.
The Ogun State Ministry of Education hailed the program as a powerful way to motivate students and called for its expansion across Ado-Odo/Ota LGA.
Wema Bank reaffirmed its dedication to youth development, while China-Africa Investment FZC’s General Manager, Mr. Zhao fangyu, emphasized that community prosperity is a shared responsibility. Educational materials, cash gifts, and relief items were presented to students, schools and teachers, benefiting thousands across participating schools.
To further improve learning environments, modern mowing machines (Grass Cutter Machine) were donated to all 18 public schools in Igbesa and Ejila-Awori, helping create cleaner and more conducive spaces for learning.
This initiative reinforces China-Africa Investment FZC’s commitment to strengthening educational resources, inspiring young minds, and building a brighter, more empowered future for the communities it serves.
