A. INTRODUCTION
Accident often includes minor or major injury to employees. Injury causes pain to the employees concerned and anxiety to both the family of the injured and to the managementof the company. Fatal accidents could even lead to death. Accident often involves damage to plants, machines, tools, building and other company or client’s property. The results of all these losses increased cost to the company and other consequences in terms of liability to our client. Accident prevention is the backbone of industrial safety and this is the bedrock of our LIVINGSTAR HEALTH, SAFETY and ENVIRONMENT POLICY(LHSE). Our LHSE Policy states thatwe(LIVINGSTARGLOBAL RESOURCES &SERCVICES LIMITED)will conduct allits business activities in the ways that conform to all known acceptable standards of safety and in the most environmentally friendly way. Against this background, the company is determined to provide a safety working environment for its employees on industrial safety. This book is a simple and hand reference material and is intended to conduct to educate employee on safety. Safety is attitudinal, for this reason, all staff members are to have a copy of the LHSE policy and comply with the content. It is a “ZERO” tolerance policy. ROLES AND RESPONSILITY
NO job is so important, No emergency so great that we should not take time to do our job safely. LIVINGSTARHEALTH SAFETY ENVIRONMENT POLICY (LHSE) clearly defines roles and responsibilities for both management and staff respectively. MANAGEMENT ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITY:
i. Initiating, providing, adopting and implementing policies, procedures, programs and practices that encourage or enable safe working accident prevention. Provision of tools, equipment’s, machineries and materials with standard safety features. Removal or minimization of hazards to the lowest possible levels. Provision of personal protective wears and equipment for the use of employees. Ensuring disciplinary action in cases of non-compliance with or disregard for safety procedures and practices. Checking and ensuring compliance with Government (or its agencies) safety regulations. vii. Compliance with workmen compensation act in the event of an accident. viii. Preparation of data to show trends, number and nature of accidents with a view to receiving the effectiveness of accident prevention measures. ix. Bench marking of other companies or industries with a view to adopting more effective measures. STAFF ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITY:
i. To seek and understand industrial safety policies, practices, rules and regulations caution notices, signs porters at all company or client properties. To adopt safe working as a way of life and inculcate safety habits. To avoid any acts inimical to his safety, that of others or any act capable of causing damage to company or client property or to the physical environment. To follow safety procedures always in his normal employment or in carrying out assigned task. To use the personal protective wears and equipment’s correctly and always. To inform management promptly and in the manner required of any hazardous condition, safety issue or details of all concerned. To participate with commitment in all safety programs when called upon to do so. LHSE COMMITTEE:
i. To inquire into the circumferences all accident in the company or on site. To advise on matters affecting the health and safety of all employees and on matters relating to good housekeeping. To organize and undertake periodic inspection of safety and fire appliances. To educate other employees on the correct use (and reason for use) of personal protective devices (i.e. wears and equipment’s). To arrange and conduct safety and housekeeping competitions. To stimulate the interest of employees generally on accident preventions. C. 2-STEP PRECAUTION FOR ACCIDENT PREVENTION

No job is so important, no emergency so great that we should not take time to do our job safely. E. CONTRACT STAFF:
i. The contents of this manual also apply fully to contract staff of any kind in so far as they work in the services of the company. Contract staffs are expected to abide by the safety precaution highlight and ensure they use the appropriate personal protective device(s) for the job they are doing. All company’s contractors are to provide PPD’s wears and equipment’s for his staff. Where this is not done or done improperly, the company may be compelled to provide them and change
