Investing in people remains one of the most powerful ways to shape the future of the energy industry. As the first cohort of the Sahara Power Technical and Innovation Academy (SPTIA) progresses through its transformative learning journey, Sahara Power Group’s leadership team paid a special visit to connect with the trainees, review their experiences, and hear firsthand how the programme is impacting their development.

The interaction underscored Sahara Power Group’s commitment to developing world-class energy professionals equipped to drive innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable energy delivery. Through open conversations, shared experiences, and direct feedback from participants, the engagement reinforced the Academy’s vision of nurturing a new generation of engineers who will help shape the future of Nigeria’s power sector while championing a strong culture of safety, excellence, and continuous learning.

The SPTIA is organised in collaboration with Egbin Power and First Independent Power Limited (FIPL), two of Nigeria’s leading power generation companies and members of the Sahara Power Group.

Our annual community football competition brings together youth from our three host communities, providing them the opportunity to showcase their skills, interact, and build lasting friendships.

The last edition of the competition featured 16 teams from the communities and was marked by discipline, camaraderie, and exemplary sportsmanship. The initiative has become a unifying platform for development, positive engagement, and shared identity among the host communities. By creating safe, competitive spaces for young people, we promote peaceful coexistence and social cohesion in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16, which emphasises building strong and inclusive societies.

We actively promote sustainability through initiatives such as planting trees and reducing our carbon footprint by utilising electric buggies, bicycles, and scooters for transportation within our power plant. We believe that our deliberate collective efforts can contribute to securing a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future for all.
