Kwara Coding Students Launch Final Preparation for October Project Exhibition

The Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme has entered its most important phase, with centers across the state initiating intensive final preparations for the highly anticipated Project Exhibition this October.

The resumption of classes on September 22nd has been marked by a surge of momentum, fueled by the programme's recent national recognition. Last week, this renewed energy was channeled directly into project refinement, as students and instructors collaborated to polish their digital solutions for the upcoming showcase.

Across all learning centers, last week's sessions were dedicated to the final stages of project development. Instructors shifted into a mentorship role, providing hands-on guidance to help students debug code, enhance user interfaces, and perfect their presentation skills. The coordinated effort ensures that the innovative concepts are transformed into exhibition-ready prototypes.

The programme's integrated schedule continues to function seamlessly alongside the academic calendar, providing a stable and productive environment for students to balance their schoolwork with their technological ambitions.

The current drive builds upon the programme's foundational achievements, including the recent success of Kwara students at the National Kids Innovation Challenge in Lagos. As noted by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Innovations, Hon. Ishola Kayode, these accomplishments highlight the students' remarkable ability to identify local challenges and develop effective digital solutions.

The Kwara Coding & Digital Literacy Programme, a cornerstone of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's administration, continues to empower the state's youth with future-ready skills in problem-solving, creativity, and technical innovation. All attention is now focused on the October exhibition, where these young innovators will present their work, marking a significant milestone in the state's investment in human capital development.

Kwara Students Shine at National Kids Innovation Challenge 2025 – Igbaja Agritech Mini Emerges Among Top Three Winners.

Kwara State has once again taken the spotlight on the national stage as students from the Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme distinguished themselves at the National Kids Innovation Challenge 2025, organized by The Destiny Trust.

The prestigious competition, held on 20th September 2025 at Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together ten of the brightest young innovation teams from across Nigeria, showcasing groundbreaking solutions in agriculture, health, logistics, education, and connectivity.

Kwara State was proudly represented by two finalist teams:

Agritech Mini Dashboard from Igbaja Centre

VBOT Innovators – Virtual Doctor Bot from Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin

Out of the ten national finalists, the Igbaja Agritech Mini Dashboard team emerged among the top three winners, with a solution designed to empower farmers with curated market prices, weather forecasts, planting insights, and real-time security incident reporting. Their project, developed with data from the Igbaja community, emphasizes localization, scalability, and food security. Notably, they were the only non-hardware-based project to break into the top three, a testament to the depth of innovation coming from Kwara students.

The VBOT Innovators also impressed with their health-focused chatbot, designed to analyze symptoms, provide recommendations, and guide patients to nearby medical facilities with emergency contact integration.

The National Kids Innovation Challenge 2025 saw nine student teams from Kwara submit projects, four advancing to the pre-demo stage, and two making it to the finals—underscoring Kwara State’s rising reputation as a hub for youth-driven innovation.

Speaking on the achievement, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Innovation commended the students’ hard work, creativity, and resilience: “This success is a clear reflection of His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s visionary investment in digital literacy and human capital development. For the first time, government school students in Kwara are competing—and winning—on the national innovation stage. This is historic.”

The Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme, an initiative of the Kwara State Government, continues to nurture creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills among young people. With mentorship and training support from Kidstech Africa, these young innovators have proven that Kwara is setting the pace for excellence in digital innovation.

The winning projects will also feature prominently at the upcoming Kwara Coding & Digital Literacy Exhibition scheduled for October 2025, where more student innovations will be showcased to the public.
