RCC column cracks are not always a sign of weak concrete.
They are often a result of detailing errors, overloading, settlement, or poor construction practices.
Understanding the real cause is the first step toward prevention.

a comprehensive visual guide to the concrete mixing and pouring process, moving from industrial equipment to the specific material ratios, and finally to the on-site application.
The graphic is organized into three distinct horizontal sections:

1. MIXING EQUIPMENT
The top section highlights the two primary ways concrete is mixed:
• Concrete Transit Mixer (Truck): On the left, a large red and white truck is shown. This represents "ready-mix" concrete, which is mixed at a plant and transported to large-scale construction sites.
• Portable Concrete Mixer: On the right, a smaller yellow drum mixer is shown. This is typically used for smaller, DIY, or residential projects where concrete is mixed on-site.

2. THE CONCRETE MIX RATIO
The middle section illustrates the 1:2:4 ratio, which is a standard "nominal mix" (often referred to as M15 grade) used for general construction tasks like floor slabs or paths.
• 1 Part Cement: The binding agent (the grey pile).
• 2 Parts Sand: The fine aggregate (the tan pile).
• 4 Parts Gravel: The coarse aggregate (the brown crushed stone pile).
• Note: Water (not pictured) is the final essential component that triggers the chemical reaction (hydration) to harden the mix.

3. APPLICATION AND STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS
The bottom section is a detailed illustration of a concrete pour in progress, labeling several critical engineering elements:
• Formwork: The wooden temporary "molds" that hold the wet concrete in place until it sets.
• Column Rebar: Vertical steel reinforcement bars that provide tensile strength to the structure.
• Concrete: The wet mixture being leveled by workers.
• Electric Vi****or: A tool shown being used by a worker. This is crucial for compaction—it removes air bubbles and ensures the concrete settles densely around the rebar to prevent "honeycombing" or structural weak spots.
