Congratulations to Ebun Feludu and Zang Luka for a good representation of Nigeria in the 1st West Africa Start-up Competition.
As part of the 1st West African startup competition summit, the Commission of the Community of West African States (ECOWAS) organized a gala dinner on this occasion, the juries of the West African startups competition proclaimed the results and awarded prizes and trophies to the winners.
The 1st West African Startup Summit organised by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), with the support of UNIDO, ECOBANK and the African Solidarity Fund (ASF), ended with the adoption of the draft charter for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the presentation of award of the best startups in the region. This summit was held in Niamey, Niger.
At the end of the competition, Top 10 startups from the ECOWAS region that proposed innovative solutions in various fields were awarded prizes.
Speaking on this occasion, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Youth Entrepreneurship, Mr. Gado Sabo Moctar praised the work done by the committees of experts to choose the various winners from among more than one fifty files. This shows a certain interest today in the development of startups in Africa. "I would like to salute and encourage ECOWAS which has taken this initiative to organize this 1st start-up competition summit which aims to create a synergy within our common space to develop the human potential of young entrepreneurs.
Commissioner in charge of industry and the promotion of the private sector of ECOWAS recalled that this summit of West African startups aims to support the emergence and growth of techno-economic startups in West Africa by creating and supporting an environment conducive to technovation, the proliferation of technological poles and technological companies in the region. "This award ceremony for the best projects to the winners aims to encourage young people in the development of entrepreneurship. Mr. Traoré Mamadou thanked the authorities of Niger for the success of the work of the 1st start-up competition summit.
