THINGS ENGINEERS OR BUILDERS MUST NEVER DO ON SITE NO MATTER WHAT
1. Work without approved working drawings.
2. Execute work without a third eye or independent cross-check.
3. Proceed with stages of work that have not been inspected and approved.
4. Assume soil conditions without proper investigation and still continue work.
5. Carry out site activities without a proper checklist for setting out, excavation, reinforcement, formwork, concrete, blockwork, and related works.
6. Ignore errors and continue working on them.
7. Provide inadequate curing or skip the curing process entirely.
8. Accept substandard or untested materials on site.
9. Change structural design without approval from a structural engineer.
10. Ignore health and safety requirements on site.
11. Allow shortcuts in the name of saving time.
12. Rely 100 percent on workers’ verbal assurances without verification.
13. Fail to maintain proper documentation and records.
14. Compromise levels and alignment.
15. Move to the next phase of the project without adequate preparation.
Good construction is not about speed.
