The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Peter Vowles, has commended the efforts of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) towards improving electricity reliability following a high-level visit to the company's Corporate Headquarters in Kano.

The visit provided an opportunity for KEDCO to showcase its achievements, infrastructure investments, technological advancements and community empowerment initiatives, reflecting its commitment to transforming electricity distribution and improving service delivery under the strategic guidance of its investor, Future Energies Africa (FEA).

Welcoming the delegation, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of KEDCO, Dr. Abubakar Shuaibu Jimeta, highlighted the company's strategic priorities, emphasising infrastructure development, operational efficiency and improved electricity supply across its franchise areas of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States.

During the presentation, Dr. Jimeta disclosed that KEDCO had invested billions of Naira in infrastructure development at Dawanau and several network upgrades.

He described the investment as part of the company's sustained efforts to strengthening its distribution network, improve service delivery and enhance electricity supply to customers.

Beyond infrastructure development, the MD/CEO highlighted KEDCO's commitment to community empowerment and inclusive growth, citing the recent training and empowerment of 50 women through a skills acquisition programme designed to promote economic independence, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods.

On technological advancement, Dr. Jimeta showcased the company's progress in smart grid integration and other electricity distribution modernisation initiatives. These interventions are aimed at strengthening network performance, improving operational efficiency and supporting the delivery of more reliable electricity to customers.

In his remarks, the British High Commissioner, Mr. Peter Vowles, acknowledged KEDCO's ongoing efforts, observing that the company was taking steps towards making electricity supply more reliable.

The British delegation comprised the Head of Development Cooperation, Cynthia Rowe; Health Adviser, Dr. Chidera Chukwu; Regional Coordinator for Kano State, Dr. Adamu Mikano; Subnational Team Lead, David Ukagwu; Conflict Adviser, Pirmah Rimdan; Senior Governance Adviser, Chris Okeke; and UKPACT Officer, Folakemi Aletan.

The engagement underscored the importance of international cooperation, strategic partnerships and institutional collaboration in advancing infrastructure development, technological innovation and sustainable electricity distribution.

With the continued strategic guidance of Future Energies Africa, KEDCO remains focused on infrastructure expansion, technological innovation, operational improvements and community development as it advances its ambition of building a more efficient, resilient and customer-focused electricity distribution company.

PUBLIC NOTICE

Power Supply Interruption In Parts Of Kano Metropolis!

In a bid to minimise the impact of the outage, KEDCO has implemented alternative supply arrangements through feeder interconnections and load transfers. However, existing network capacity limitations at Dakata and Tamburawa Transmission Stations have constrained the extent of electricity supply to several affected areas.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this outage may cause and appreciate the patience, understanding, and continued cooperation of our esteemed customers during this period!
