One well. Two strings. No room for error.

In a dual-tubing completion, perforating the short string without damaging the adjacent long string required a precise, carefully engineered approach.

The team successfully deployed oriented perforation technology, safely restored both strings to production and unlocked an additional 920 barrels of oil per day.

Presented at Society of Petroleum Engineers, Nigeria Council NAICE 2026, Paper 619 demonstrates how technical ingenuity can turn a complex well-integrity challenge into measurable production impact.

Faced with a shut-in gas well, our team delivered an innovative rigless recompletion that restored production, protected nearby wells and strengthened feed gas supply - helping enable approximately 450 MW of power generation in Nigeria.
