Today, we mark the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

This year’s focus on ensuring a healthy psychosocial work environment brings a critical dimension of safety to the forefront, one that is often overlooked.

Workplace safety is not only physical.
It is also mental, emotional, and social.

Psychosocial risks, including long hours, high stress, poor communication, harassment, job insecurity, can be just as harmful as physical hazards. In many cases, they are less visible, but more pervasive.

A truly safe workplace is one where people feel respected and heard, workloads are manageable and expectations are clear, leaders create psychologically safe spaces, not pressure-filled environments and ental wellbeing is treated as a priority, not a side conversation

In high-demand sectors like energy, marine, and construction, performance pressure is real. But productivity should never come at the cost of people’s wellbeing.
