Also for what it's worth, I don't think Nigeria's economic interests at this point are served by selling natural gas to Europe.

Nigeria is a country of 200 million people which needs a minimum of 100,000 megawatts of electricity to achieve the economic velocity needed to escape poverty.

Currently Nigeria's national grid only has the capacity to wheel out a pathetic 5,000 megawatts, and its average electricity production (3.4GWh) is less than the average electricity consumption of Heathrow airport (3,500 GWh).

Instead of selling natural gas to Europe in return for money that will end up pilfered by public officials, who will ultimately launder it in Europe - resulting in a double gain for Europe and a double loss for Nigeria. the country's natural gas reserves should instead be developed with a view to raising electricity generation in Nigeria and powering its own industrialisation.

The industrialisation of Nigeria could add another $2trn - $3trn to the economy of Africa, which is worth many times the few billion dollars worth of annual revenue that would accrue from gas exports.

We should focus on our industrialisation and leave Europe to patch things up with Russia or reach an energy transfer arrangement with their big friend across the pond. Our energy reserves should benefit us primarily, instead of becoming a pawn in yet another European tribal war.

We have much bigger problems.
