Yesterday, I got a call from a customer to come check a faulty inverter at Banana Island. After resolving the issue, as I came out of the house about to leave, as I walked towards the gate, I heard a roar behind me. From the depth and thunderous nature of the roar, I could tell it was a big ferocious dog. I almost immediately began to perspire as shivers went down my spine.
I was so terrified that I couldn’t even turn back to see what roared. I stood there, still, stiff-necked and eyes front like a soldier on parade; slowly whispering at the security who was inside his post.
Na so imagination wan start dey wound me. Will I leave here complete, like this? Ordinary broke wey I broke, no babe don gree marry me. Na when I come loose one limb? How will I be climbing roofs? Ah! I continued trying to get the security’s attention.
Next thing, I felt something lick my leg. Ah! At this point, whispers had to turn into screaming. Security no still answer me. Then I looked through the net on his door and found this young man lying down peacefully with earphones plugged to his ears. Na there I know say my destiny don commot from my hand rest on my foot.
Should I run and jump the fence? No, this dog go finish me. I have to face this beast squarely. Now, I could hear echoes of my mom’s voice from childhood, “Albert, you’re a man!” Yes! I’m a man!😡 I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and turned around, slowly. As I opened them, behold, one small ekuke dog. What?! How did you get such deep voice?😡 Na so I remove my shoe stone the weyrey, e run. 😄
