Project Completion Update | Mak Geospatial Integrated Services
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the Hydrological Analysis for an Earthen Water Harvesting Structure at Tse, Abanyam Community, Mbaaka, Ushongo Local Government Area, Benue State.
This project, awarded to us by Kuma and Partners Ltd, involved our team delivering comprehensive end-to-end geospatial support for sustainable water harvesting.
Our Role with Geospatial Technology:
Utilizing a 30m SRTM DEM, we conducted the following:
1. Watershed Delineation – Mapped precise catchments draining to the dam site.
2. Flow Direction & Flow Accumulation Analysis – Identified natural water flow paths and runoff potential.
3. Stream Network Mapping – Pinpointed optimal dam axis for maximum water yield.
4. Site Suitability Mapping – Provided data-driven recommendations to Kuma and Partners Ltd.
Our approach ensures science-based site selection, eliminating guesswork.
Benefits to the Abanyam Community:
• Increased water availability for dry season farming.
• Improved access to water for livestock.
• Reduced pressure on existing water sources.
• Foundation for climate-resilient agriculture in Ushongo Local Government Area.
At Mak Geospatial Integrated Services, we leverage accurate geospatial data to address real community problems, demonstrating that good data leads to informed decisions and lasting impact.
We extend our gratitude to Kuma and Partners Ltd for their trust and to the Abanyam Community for their warm reception during field validation.
