As we move closer to the AICCEES Innovation Challenge, we are delighted to spotlight another of our esteemed mentors who will be playing a key role in shaping and guiding the shortlisted innovators

we are proud to spotlight one of our mentor Dr. Iwona Bisaga
a Global Clean Cooking Lead at the Global Platform for Action on Sustainable Energy in Displacement Settings (GPA) and the Norwegian Capacity
(NORCAP). She has over 12 years of experience in the energy access sector, having worked across academia, the private sector, and the United Nations.
Her expertise spans off-grid electrification, access to clean and modern cooking solutions, and integrated approaches
to energy access planning. She previously served as the
Humanitarian Lead at the Modern Energy Cooking Services
(MECS) Programme, where she also managed research on access to clean cooking in Rwanda and in institutional settings.
Before joining MECS, Dr. Bisaga was the Global Research Manager at Bboxx, a provider of off-grid solar and clean cooking solutions across Africa and Asia.
She holds a PHD in Energy from University College London
(UCL) and an MSc in Development Administration and Planning from the same institution.

Through her guidance, our innovators will be gaining valuable insights and help in refining ideas into impactful, real-world solutions.

We are honored to have Dr. Iwona Bisaga contribute to building a strong ecosystem of learning, collaboration, and innovation at AICCEES.

Announcing the Official Mentors for the AICCEES 2026 Clean Energy Innovation Challenge**

Across Africa, the transition to clean, reliable, and sustainable energy is being shaped not only by policy and investment, but by innovators developing practical solutions to real community challenges. In response to this growing need, we are delighted to officially announce the mentors for the AICCEES 2026 Clean Energy Innovation Challenge, a flagship initiative dedicated to identifying, supporting, and showcasing high-impact African-led clean energy solutions that address pressing challenges in energy access, climate change, and sustainability, while providing innovators with visibility to investors, corporates, and policymakers, structured mentorship and market-readiness support, and opportunities for funding, partnerships, and scale.

We are honoured to welcome **Prince Nana Kow Essel | Founder/CEO, Econexus Ventures Limited 🇬🇭**, an award-winning energy access specialist with over five years of experience advancing clean energy solutions for underserved communities across Africa. He is the founder of a Ghana-based social enterprise converting organic waste into sustainable bio-ethanol fuel for clean cooking, and a recognised leader in the global energy space as a World Energy Council Future Energy Leader, UN SDG7 Youth Constituency Regional Focal Point, and winner of the Siemens Foundation Smart Energy Solutions for Africa Country Award (2023). 🏆 His work reflects a deep commitment to practical, scalable solutions that expand energy access while advancing climate goals.

Through this mentorship network, AICCEES 2026 seeks to bridge the gap between research, innovation, and real-world deployment, strengthen the pipeline of investible clean energy ventures, and position AICCEES as a leading innovation-to-market platform driving inclusive energy and climate solutions across Africa.

🌍 World Environment Day 2026 | Building a Sustainable Future Together

Tovero Energy was invited to participate in the World Environment Day celebration organized by the Rivers State Ministry of Environment, which brought together environmental advocates, organizations, and key stakeholders committed to protecting our planet.

A key highlight of the event was the insightful presentation by Dr. (Mrs.) August Ayotamuno on Smart Cities and Environmental Sustainability. She introduced powerful concepts including the Sponge Model—a nature-inspired approach to resource management—and the distinction between our Carbon Footprint and Carbon Handprint, reminding us that sustainability is not only about reducing harm but also creating positive environmental impact.

Participants were also called upon to take practical actions to improve environmental health, including ending open defecation, preventing water pollution, eliminating open waste burning, and embracing responsible waste management practices.

The event also featured cultural performances and inspiring presentations from school students, and goodwill messages from key stakeholders.

At Tovero Energy, sustainability remains central to our mission. We are committed to supporting initiatives that promote environmental stewardship, community wellbeing, and climate resilience.
