STUDENTS OF THE SENIOR LEADERSHIP AND STAFF OFFICERS COURSE 4/2026 VISIT NAVAL SHIPYARD LIMITED ON NIGERIAN STUDY TOUR

On Friday, 3 July 2026, students of the Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course 4/2026 from the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Ojo, Lagos, visited Naval Shipyard Limited (NSL), Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as part of their Nigerian study tour. The study tour was designed to expose the participants to key defence and industrial establishments, providing them with practical insights into logistics, maintenance, and operational support systems that complement their academic training.
During the visit, the students received a comprehensive briefing on the mandate, organisational structure, and activities of NSL. They also participated in an interactive session with the management and were conducted on a guided tour of the shipyard’s facilities, where they gained firsthand knowledge of the Company’s shipbuilding, ship repair, and maintenance capabilities in support of the Nigerian Navy and the nation’s maritime sector.

During the exhibition, NSL showcased its wide range of products and services to a diverse audience comprising senior Military Officers, Government Officials, industry stakeholders, and business leaders, highlighting its capabilities and commitment to supporting defence sectors.

*NAVAL SHIPYARD LIMITED CONDUCTS SECOND QUARTER 2026 ROUTE MARCH IN PORT HARCOURT*

Naval Shipyard Limited (NSL) conducted its Second Quarter Route March on Saturday, 27 June 2026, in line with the Nigerian Navy's forecast of events for the month. The 12 kilometre march which was led by the Admiral Superintendent Naval Shipyard Limited(ASNSL) RAdm IU Ubani commenced at 0600 hours from NSL.
The exercise was aimed to boost both the physical endurance and mental resilience of personnel, reflecting the Nigerian Navy's dedication to sustaining a high level of operational preparedness, participants from Federal Road Safety were also in attendance.
In his remarks, the ASNSL, stated that the quarterly route marches are intended to help personnel maintain optimal physical and mental fitness, thereby enhancing their effectiveness in carrying out assigned duties.
He also underscored the significance of the exercise, noting that it not only improves operational capability but also strengthens unity and teamwork among naval personnel, while also encouraging personnel to continuously engage in sporting activities.
Members of the public remained calm and cooperative throughout the exercise, while traffic was well regulated, resulting in minimal disruption to normal activities.
The route march was successfully completed without any incidents.

*HANDOVER OF 15 UNITS OF 9.2M SEMI-BALLISTIC GRP GUNBOATS TO THE NIGERIAN ARMY AND NIGERIAN NAVY*

The handover ceremony of 15 units of 9.2m semi-ballistic Glass Reinforced Plastic gunboats was held on Thursday, 15 May 2025, at Naval Shipyard Limited. The gunboats were constructed by Naval Shipyard Limited on behalf of Tanitita Security Services Nigeria Limited and formally handed over to the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Navy.

During the ceremony, the Admiral Superintendent Naval Shipyard Limited welcomed the Special Guest of Honour Chief of Defense Staff General O Oluyede, Armed Forces Medal who was ably represented by the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army Land Component Commander Joint Task Force (south south) Operation Delta Safe Major Gen EE Emekah, representatives of the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Naval Staff, and officials of Tanitita Security Services Nigeria Limited. He noted that the construction of the gunboats was executed under the directive of Naval Headquarters, building on the yard’s growing expertise in indigenous Glass Reinforced Plastic boatbuilding.
The Chief of Defence Staff, accepting the boats on behalf of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, described the gesture as a patriotic act driven by Tanitita Security Services Nigeria Limited’s commitment to pipeline and maritime security as well as broader national security objectives. He recalled that the Defence Headquarters had earlier reposed confidence in the yard’s capability by contracting for four semi-ballistic gunboats commissioned in 2021, and commended the continued progress demonstrated with the current batch of 15 units.
In his remarks, the CDS thanked Tanitita Security Services Nigeria Limited for its thoughtful and patriotic contribution and commended Naval Shipyard Limited for its professionalism and dedication. He assured that the gunboats would be deployed and properly maintained to support maritime security operations within Nigerian waters.
The ceremony underscored the growing partnership between the Armed Forces of Nigeria, government institutions, and private sector stakeholders in advancing national defence and maritime safety.

NAVAL SHIPYARD LIMITED PARTICIPATES IN THE 3RD AFRICAN INTERNATIONAL TRADEFAIR EXPO 2026

Naval Shipyard Limited (NSL), following a directive from Navy Holdings Limited, participated in the 3rd African International Trade Fair Expo 2026. In compliance with this directive, NSL took part in the three-day exhibition which took place on 31 Mar to 2 Apr 26, where it actively showcased its range of products and services to a diverse audience of industry stakeholders, partners, and members of the public.
Throughout the duration of the expo, NSL utilized the platform to highlight its technical capabilities, ongoing projects, and contributions to maritime engineering and shipyard services. The exhibition provided an opportunity to engage with potential clients, foster strategic partnerships, and reinforce the organization’s presence within the regional and international maritime sector.

Naval Shipyard Limited (NSL) hosted its Monthly Best Rating and Best Civilian Staff Award Ceremony for March 2026, as part of its ongoing commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence within the organization.
The ceremony served as a platform to acknowledge personnel who demonstrated outstanding performance, professionalism, and dedication to duty. It reinforced the organization’s core values of hard work, discipline, and commitment, while also motivating other staff members to continually strive for excellence in the discharge of their responsibilities.
For the month of March 2026, the Best Rating Award was conferred on Lwtr Egbunu SJ in recognition of exemplary service and notable contributions. Similarly, the Best Civilian Staff Award was presented to Miss Ine Ogwama for her diligence, efficiency, and consistent display of professionalism in her role.
Overall, the event highlighted NSL’s dedication to fostering a culture of excellence and appreciation, while encouraging continuous improvement and high performance across all levels of the workforce.

On Tuesday, 17 March 2026, the Commander Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder, Commodore MI Raji, paid a courtesy visit to the Admiral Superintendent Naval Shipyard Limited, Rear Admiral IU Ubani.
The visit was necessitated by Commodore Raji’s recent assumption of command and was aimed at fostering familiarity, strengthening existing ties, and enhancing cooperation between the two units. During the engagement, both senior officers exchanged pleasantries and discussed matters of mutual interest, particularly in areas that would promote operational synergy and effective collaboration.
The visit further underscored the importance of inter-unit relationships within the Nigerian Navy, as it provided an opportunity to reinforce professional bonds and ensure a seamless working relationship between Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder and Naval Shipyard Limited.

The Admiral Superintendent of Naval Shipyard Limited, Rear Admiral IU Ubani, accompanied by his team of General Managers, paid a courtesy visit on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, to the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Major General EE Emekah.
