🙂‍↔️🎊 May Was Impactful and June Will Be Even Bigger!

May was a month of impact, growth, and recognition across the WAAW Foundation STEM Chapters network.

Through our College-to-Secondary (C2S) STEM Outreach Program, we successfully organized 19 STEM outreaches, reaching and engaging 1,295 students, impacting 824 girls, and engaging 80 teachers across multiple African countries. With an average of 9 fellows per outreach, our chapters continued to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders and innovators.

We are also proud to celebrate the chapters that stood out during the month: WAAW Foundation FUTO Chapter

Outstanding STEM Chapter of the Month - WAAWLautechChapter

In addition, our Monthly Fellows Meet-Up provided valuable learning opportunities, featuring a session on the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, where fellows gained insights into eligibility, partner universities, application requirements, postgraduate opportunities, and career development pathways.

As we step into June, we're not slowing down. We are preparing for even more outreaches, greater community engagement, stronger chapter visibility, and impactful initiatives that will continue to empower young people through STEM.

Here's to reaching more schools, inspiring more students, and creating even greater impact this June! 💙💛

"WAAW Foundation expanded my vision of what is possible. It taught me that academic knowledge isn’t meant to stay trapped inside a classroom; it’s meant to create tangible real-world value."

When Eunice Adekola joined us for the 2022 WAAW Fellows Summit, she was looking for a way to connect her academic foundation with real-world impact. Today, she is actively living out that blueprint.

Eunice has officially co-authored and published her first research paper in a peer-reviewed international journal, a massive milestone driven by her deep passion for scientific discovery.

But she isn’t stopping at academia. She is currently navigating a series of major professional transitions:

She recently stepped into a new role as a Trainee ICT Support Officer, mastering the day-to-day technicalities of IT operations.

To scale her technical capacity and power her upcoming research, she is currently mastering data science frameworks and actively writing her next research paper.

Having just concluded her National Youth Service (NYSC) in March, where she led local STEM and SDG secondary school outreaches, she is continuing her commitment to grassroots community mentorship.

Eunice is the exact definition of a WAAW Builder, someone who refuses to accept a single lane and instead bridges the gap between deep research, technical IT infrastructure, and community leadership.

We are incredibly proud to track her trajectory and support her as she continues to build the future of tech and science.

A new month means new opportunities to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of African women leaders and we are not just stopping there but we are including our teachers too.

At WAAW Foundation, our mission remains clear: to empower African women and girls to become transformative leaders through STEM education, leadership, and entrepreneurship training while making a significant impact on the world.

Every outreach, every mentorship session, every scholarship awarded, and every girl encouraged to pursue STEM brings us one step closer to that vision.

This month, we look forward to reaching more communities, inspiring more girls to see themselves as innovators and problem-solvers, and creating even greater impact across Africa.

Because when a girl is empowered with knowledge, confidence, and opportunity, she doesn't just change her own future, she helps transform the future of her community.

Across Ethiopia, young women from the Addis Ababa University chapter are working to create opportunities for students who may never have had access to STEM education, mentorship, or technology exposure.

Founded in 2024 and led by Abegail Chanyalew Wolde, the chapter is committed to empowering young girls and underserved students through mentorship, practical learning, leadership development, and community outreach.

Through STEM awareness sessions, interactive workshops, and mentorship programs, they are helping students build confidence, curiosity, and belief in their potential.

But beyond the workshops and outreach programs, their mission is simple:

✨ Helping girls see themselves as future innovators, leaders, and problem-solvers.

This is the impact of community-driven STEM education across Africa. 💙💛

This Children’s Day, we call on the world to remember the children whose greatest dream is simply to be safe, in the midst of insurgency, war, displacement, and crisis.

To have access to education.
To imagine a future filled with possibility.
To grow up in peace.

Because peace is more than the absence of war, it is the presence of safety, dignity, and hope for every child. And protecting that future is a responsibility shared by all of us.
