Tottenham's £300m transfer spending lacks clear plan.

Tottenham Hotspur invested heavily in this summer's transfer window, but started the new Premier League season with two consecutive losses, placing them at the bottom of the table.

Former Premier League star Troy Deeney shared his views in a column for The Sun.

Troy Deeney: Over £300 million spent on transfers, 54 players in and out, 0 points, 0 goals, no clear plan... Tottenham Hotspur has nowhere left to hide.
After all the optimism early in the summer, Tottenham Hotspur seems to be in disarray once again.

If you're struggling to decide whether Tottenham Hotspur had an excellent transfer window or simply threw a lot of money at a problem, there's a straightforward way to look at it.

Over £300 million spent, but the core issue remains unresolved.
On transfer deadline day, they signed Tosin Adarabioyo and Mudryk from Chelsea. But was this their original plan? Certainly not. Tosin's signing raised some questions largely due to his injury history, but he has had an excellent career. However, his arrival still hasn't created much excitement, especially given Tottenham Hotspur's loss of Cristian Romero.

Tottenham Hotspur has spent hundreds of millions of pounds, but still no one can answer a simple question: Who can score 10 goals for Tottenham Hotspur this season?

To spend so much money and bring in so many players, yet be unable to confidently name someone who can reach that number, is worrying.

Squad overly reliant on "everyone being fit and in top form."

PSG 1-2 Monaco: Les parisiens continue to falter as Idumbo inspires a comeback win for visitors.

Monaco came from behind to win 2-1 away at Paris Saint-Germain to stay perfect after three Ligue 1 games and in five matches in all competitions under Filipe Luís, while the champions are still looking for their first win of the new domestic campaign.

Marquinhos (31')
Nazinho (58')
Stanis Idumbo (72')

Match report

PSG had salvaged 2-2 draws having trailed in their first two matches, and starting slowly had become a theme in recent times, as they had only led at the break in one of their previous six league matches. Their attempts to improve that record ramped up 12 minutes in when Désiré Doué slipped a pass through to Achraf Hakimi, whose blocked shot ricocheted back to Doué, and his follow-up was well saved by Lukas Hradecky before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia finally blasted over. Doué’s effort in that move was his second effort on goal after an early sighter for Hradecky, while Monaco showed no sign of the side who had won their opening two Ligue 1 games without conceding.

And it was just past the 30-minute mark that Luis Enrique’s side denied Monaco another clean sheet, putting together a composed move down the left, resulting in Kvaratskhelia firing over a cross which Marquinhos diverted in with his chest. The Georgian winger came close to getting on the scoresheet himself soon after with a low fizzing drive that required a smart stop from the goalkeeper, before the visitors finally registered a shot in added time, but Paris Brunner’s strike went wide of the post following a well-worked move.

Betis 1-0 Real Madrid: Los blancos suffer a defeat as espi's goal disallowed and mbappe misses pen.

Dogged defending from Real Betis Balompié was rewarded when Troy Parrott pounced to score a late winner in a 1-0 LaLiga victory over Real Madrid, extending Los Verdiblancos' unbeaten home H2H record to five games (W2, D3).

Parrott (81')
Mbappe (90'+4' Penalty Missed)

Match report

The hosts had to endure an early onslaught from Los Blancos as José Mourinho’s men tried to silence the crowd. Dean Huijsen had the first major chance of the game, but at full stretch, he could only guide a deep cross onto the palms of Álvaro Valles. The Betis goalkeeper was left helpless minutes later, but his goalpost came to the rescue after some neat interplay around the box involving Kylian Mbappé and Arda Güler, with Vinícius Júnior ultimately hitting the upright from a tight angle.

That appeared to be something of a wake-up call for the home side, who subsequently started to show signs of life. Antony was their brightest spark, winning a series of corners and forcing Thibaut Courtois into a diving save at his near post. Nevertheless, Betis’ defensive heroics were required again just before the interval, with both Natan and Marc Bartra blocking Mbappé’s efforts on the line after he looked set to score from Vinícius’ selfless pass.
